Hike-in backcountry camping sites available under a first-come, first-served permit system. The permit is available at the visitor center and is free of charge. The Chopawamsic backcountry area offers an opportunity for backcountry camping and solitude in a remote location of the park.

Oak Ridge Campground

Details

Oak Ridge Campground provides tent and RV (32' limit) camping for six persons or less per site. Campsites are wooded and provide a table and fire grill, nearby showers and flush toilets, a parking space and room for tents or small recreational vehicles. Campers select sites on a first-come, first-served basis. Sites are $15.00 per night, payable through a self-registration envelope.

Details

Travel Trailer Village is a private, concessionaire-operated full-service recreational vehicle (RV) campground located on the north side of the park on Route 234. Sites provide full hookups and access to hot showers, dump station, swimming pool, laundry, playground and picnic tables.

Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground

Details

Turkey Run Ridge Campground is exclusively for group tent camping. Providing picnic tables, grills, parking and tent space, the sites are designed so parties of seven persons or more may camp in close proximity. Reservations are required. Sites are $40.00 a night.

Historic cabin camps built in the 1930s can accommodate up to 200 persons and are used extensively by clubs, groups, and reunions. Cabin camps provide an outdoor experience with sleeping and cooking facilities available in a rustic setting.

Details

Cabin Rental -The individual cabins are rustic forest retreats constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Each cabin is furnished with twin-sized cots, ceiling fans and overhead lighting. Grills and picnic tables are located outside each cabin. The bathhouse, restrooms, hot showers and telephones are centrally located. Applications/Reservations – Reservations for individual, family and small group cabin rentals in Camp 3 are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis (Applicants must be 18 years of age or older).

Plane
The area is served by Washington's Dulles International, Baltimore/Washington International, and Reagan Washington National airports.

Car
From Washington, D.C.: Take I-95 south to exit 150-B to Joplin Road (Va. 619 west). The park entrance is the second right.

From points south: Take I-95 to exit 150 to Joplin Road (Va. 619 west). The park entrance is the second right.

Approximate driving times: From Washington, D.C., 45 minutes; from Fredericksburg, Va., 20 minutes.

Bus
Greyhound bus service is available in Triangle, Virginia.

Public Transportation
Amtrak and Virginia Railway Express rail services are available in nearby Quantico, Virginia.

Getting Around
Most park facilities, hiking trails, biking paths, picnicking and camping areas may be accessed from the park Scenic Drive, a nine-mile paved loop road. The only exceptions are the Chopawamsic backcountry area and Cabin Camps 1, 2, 4 and 5, for which permits are required.
