We have used Walmart for years and have never had a problem. We have stayed at WalMarts with 24-hour roving security patrols and with other RV’ers keeping an eye out for each other. We like stopping early enough to meet some of the other RV’ers. With just friendly conversation you can get an idea who should be around you and who you might ask for help.In the last year we spent just under 90 nights in WalMart parking lots with no problems…and no charge.

I think I’m more concerned about the noise than the safety. I don’t how anyone sleeps at some of these locations. Trucks, cars, teenagers revving it up all night.

the people are looking scarier at walmart these days. Not sure I want to park overnight at a few that I’ve seen.

Just try to stay in better looking neighborhoods. Of course, then it is more likely they ban the parking in the first place. This economy is going to lead to more problems though. More people will look to park for free and more people will find the RVs attractive targets. The stereotype of older people in them will seem easy as well.

It’s safe with a Smith and Wesson. Just keep it by you and you’re all set.
