A second use for newspapers while you’re traveling also reduces the need to buy paper towels or carry other rags. A very old fashioned method that still works is to try wetting the newspaper and using it to clean windows and other surfaces. It picks up the dirt and with something you were going to eventually dispose of regardless. You can also follow up with a dry piece of newspaper for polishing. Even if you dry with a normal towel, you’re still reducing the amount of towels that you use in the entire process.
Does it work for you?

I remember my grandmother doing this at home. I guess there a lot of things that we don’t any more that we could still be doing. Instead we buy tons of paper towels for everyone.
SherryA, our grandmothers had it right. They were probably greener than we are! Another tip: Newspaper also make utensils shiny!
