Places some guests NEVER want to leave. Scroll down for the ghost story, your comments, location map & more. St James Hotel Ghost Story17th and Collinson, Cimmaron NM ,
The owners and the guests of the hotel will tell you that it is haunted with many unexplained events. The second floor of the hotel is reported to be the most active, with cold spots and the smell of cigar smoke in the halls (and smoking is not allowed at the St. James.). You may see a nice-looking cowboy standing behind her in the mirror on the front of the bar. Like many other hotels, the St. James has been featured on the popular television show Unsolved Mysteries. Room 18 at the hotel is locked because of the ghost of Thomas James Wright. An unhappy ghost, he was killed at the door just after winning the rights to the hotel in a poker game. After being shot from behind, Wright continued on into the room and bled a slow painful death. Wright's angry ghost does not like company. In the past he has pushed people down, presented a ball of angry orange light floating in the upper corner and other mishaps. In the room there is only a bed frame and no mattress, a coat rack, a chair and bureau which has been made into a dedication to the Old West . This room is considered by the staff to be the most haunted and people are rarely allowed to enter the room and never sleep in it. Rumors afloat that a number of mysterious deaths have occurred there when the room was rented out in the past Room 17 is known for the sightings of Henry's second wife Mary Elizabeth, who is said to remain at the hotel as a protector. Mary gave birth to her children in the hotel and died there herself in December, 1926. Her remnants can be a rose-scented perfume, a tapping when the window is open which will not stop until the window is closed. You may also see a milky transparent woman in the hallways. Other reports have items falling off the walls and shelves. Front desk equipment may act up more than it should. Your camera may not work properly until you leave the hotel. The typical cold spots exist as well along with lights that turn on by themselves and the feeling of being watched. No Night Spook For You?
