Opened in November of 1909, the hotel was the largest building in San Antonio. In 1965, a woman was murdered at the hotel and her spirit remains a guest. A single young male checked into room 636 under an alias. But he apparently wasn't alone. He was seen the next few days with a tall blonde sophisticated woman.A maid entered the room past a Do Not Disturb sign to find the young man beside a blood soaked bed. The man put his finger to his lips to shush the maid. He gathered up a bloody bundle and ran out the door. It was forty minutes later til the police were called. The room was a bloody mess with the remains of a butchered woman, parts all over and some of which went down the toilet. The police found the suspect in the St. Anthony Hotel nearby. As they knocked on the door, a shot was fired and the suspect was found to have taken his own life. The body was never found with police believing the killer disposed of the remains in wet cement at the many construction sites going on in the area at the time. Since then, reports come in about strange occurences near room 636. The ghost may appear with her arms outstretched. Hammering sounds have come from the empy room 636. The image of an unknown blonde woman has appeared in photographs when she wasn't there when they were taken. A number of employees have reportedly quit after the first time they clean room 636. As if often the case these days and with it being a renovated modern Sheraton Hotel now, you will most likely find the hotel unwilling to acknowledge ghosts and murders here.
