Working Dog

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: What a disappointment There was a “boil water” advisory when we arrived and no information on the public building as to when it went into effect or the reason for it. The laundry room has three each washers and dryer’s. The iron in the water has discolored all the washers and two of the dryers took our money. The advertised rate was $22 a night but as we got ready to depart, staff arrived and indicated the rate had changed to $30. When we told them that information was nowhere to be found , their solution was to go to outdoor rec to complain. The bathrooms were not clean and there was no indication that the staff was going to do anything other than empty the trash. The mosquitoes were terrible and when I asked the staff person why there was no spraying, she gave me a deer in the headlights look. Each site had been mowed, but the amount unmoved and cleared only provided a haven for the mosquitoes. I intended to write the base commander to express my disappointment

Patricia Allman

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: Advertised as electric and water. The water is extremely bad. Smelly and discolored. If you come here bring your own water.

SamP-L

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: Good FamCamp, part of the frequent camper program so they will stamp your book at ODR. Pay any method there or in an envelope at the laundry building. Great access to the rest of the base, driving, running and biking.
Water seems to be cloudy, maybe with iron, and pressure changes for no reason. Potholes throughout could use filling and grading.

Greywhale

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: Ok but water is extremely bad. Dog would not even drink it. Smelled like decomposed?
Over grown and full of mosquitos because of this.
Better management and it could be nice. A play ground would be nice also.

Philip

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: Sites are small and over grown.
The worst looking fam camp I have seen.

Torrance2607

For Eielson AFB Bear Lake: come stay here if you want to get away from Fairbanks for the weekend. Military only to get on post. 22 dollars a night with full hookups and a place to dump. Located on a lake with access for ATVs and canoe/kayaking. Super clean with public showers and laundry services.

Amazing views. Close to FWA and access to the commissary BX if you forget something. Bring cash or a check to pay no credit cards allowed.

Pull through hookups can also be used for tent camping at a lower price than $22 a night.

My kids love it!
