Wandering Sandals

For Gulf State Park: Stayed at Gulf State Park campground for just 1 night. We had pull-thru site including full hookup with very little shade, despite our request for a shaded site and the office guarantees it! At $38/night but with res fee and taxes, it surely get to $53/night quick. Our site was leveled and power pedestal, water, and sewer were conveniently layout. Since all sites were evenly spaced and systematically layout, this campground looks more like spacious RV Park. Clean bathroom and nice hot shower. There is a nice dog park with dog exercise equipment but again no shades. The swimming beach near dog park is overgrown with algae, and we saw no one swim there. We were provided with 2 passes; one for the beach and another one for the pier which you have to drive there, or bike there, neither will be dog friendly. Can’t leave our pooch in the hot car, nor enjoy beach nor pier with our pooch so we decided to skip these. Lots of bike paths but no shade to cool you off, or the pooch off. Looks like the park still going through growing pain when we were there, some road still underdeveloped or coned off. Probably the park best visit in Springs or Autumn, but Summer is brutally hot without any shade in the right spots.

BRAD COX

For Gulf State Park: This is our first visit to Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Al. We will be staying for two (2) week intervals. This park is excellent and has amenities for the old & the young.

Meandering Life

For Gulf State Park: Awesome campground and beautiful park. The campground spots are spacious and easy to get in to. Everyone is very friendly. They have educational programs frequently for kids and adults. Park is great for bike riding and walking. Beautiful!

David Pace

For Gulf State Park: My wife and I stayed for a week. Great park in a great location of course. The ONLY negative comment I have is that all of the grassy areas are infested with goatheads. We have a small dog and it was impossible to walk her without collecting the little spined balls in the pads and hair of her feet.

Enjoy the Adventure

For Gulf State Park: This is one of the best state parks we have been to. Will be staying a lot longer next time. Tons of activities & a very active educational nature center. Many miles of manicured bike trails. Gives free access to the peri & beach. We did not use the bathrooms (have RV) but it is definitely a one of a kind outdoors experience!

MK Scharf

For Gulf State Park: Best RV Park we have ever visited. The site was spacious and paved. The pool was enormous and clean. The highlight of the park was the extensive bike trail system...never experienced anything like this before!

Only cons: No wifi to speak of. Trail signage could be improved.

Sj

For Gulf State Park: We visited 15 years ago. Since then 3 hurricanes hit so most sites have no shade. Grounds well kept but is is a mega campground with 500 sites. Must drive to beach about a mile. Beach is very nice, wide, white sand. Would not visit again.
Area is very touristy.Try going to Canal st area for Off beaten track restaurants , dog park, sea food
