Breakingaway

For Kern River Campground: This is a lovely campground with level, paved pullthru sites along the Kern River. No hookups; water spigots nearby. A new bath/shower house is under construction and was scheduled to open mid March 2023 but is behind schedule, so currently only porta-potties. Very friendly and helpful camp host. We were happy to get last available site on a Monday at 4pm. Weather related closures of campgrounds to the north (including some State parks, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Yosemite) has increased demand here.

Magenta Rose

For Kern River Campground: Lovely setting with pretty and well kept grounds. Some sites next to the Kern River (#34,36,38,40 very nice). All sites are pull through. No hookups. Water spigots are nearby but not at each site. No WiFi. Forget the restrooms and showers. Substandard does not begin to describe them. They are filthy, broken tiles, doors askew, metal toilets-really awful! Lots of cute squirrel like creatures. Watch where you walk because of their holes, some of which are fairly large.

Carl

For Kern River Campground: Camped 1 night early June on our way to Mojave. Campsite was leveled and clean. We had site #3 which had no shade at all. Not a big deal since we were out by 10am. Campground road leading to campsite was tight. Bathrooms were subpar but had free hot shower. $32 per night seems a little steep

Heather

For Kern River Campground: Large pull thru sites, but it’s a very narrow one way main road with lots of bushes. Loved the grass and river. Restrooms need lots of love, but the showers were hot and free. Fire pit was full of ashes. Around $25 for zero hookups

William

For Kern River Campground: We stayed there for three days. The park it’s self is really nice. Well maintained, Quiet and shady. The restrooms on the other hand are very bad. The whole time they hadn’t been cleaned and the camp host didn’t even bother to look at them I think. Shower was filthy floors had trash on them. If you have a self-contained RV I recommend it. Just don’t use the restrooms!

For Kern River Campground: Haven't stayed here because at $5.00 per dog, that adds $10. a night to the fee! For that price we can stay at a full hookup campground. That's not user friendly.

Becky

For Kern River Campground: Beautiful location on the Kern River. Lots of birds and away from town enough to be private. Great half way spot for us between Lake Havasu and Sacramento. I only gave it 3 stars because restrooms weren't clean and dump station not functioning. Price was right for $12. If they get hold of maintenance issues, they've got a gem.
