For Del Mar Beach Cottages: Camped here over a holiday weekend. Front row spot. Beautiful beach. Tight / close spots.. be prepared to be almost on top of your neighbor. I agree with other reviews.. a lot of smoke from the fire pits at night so be prepared for that. They do not regulate the number people per camp spot, so your neighbor could have 10-12 people staying in the spot.... 2-3 tents plus a camper. Substantial Noise past quiet hours....so something to think about especially if you have small children. Not sure we will come to Del Mar RV/campground again....if we do it will not be on a holiday weekend.

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: The place is beautiful. So much fun if you can get anyone to answer the phone to make a reservation. It is a nightmare!!! Over 2 hours at 12am to only get a busy message. I called backed over 300 times to just give up tell 4:30am same thing gave up tried again from 6am-8am something. This is not the first time either. Midday I was caller number 1 for over 1:30!!! I really don’t see how this is can happen! I

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: Just got back from 3 full days camping here over a holiday weekend. If you don't mind some sand this place this is a great place. All sites have full hookups and are quite spacious. The beach is huge, soft clean sand, cute cabanas with 2 Adirondack chairs at each one. Office, restroom/shower facilities, and store/restaurant facilities are all newish, and very nice. This was our first time here, and we will definitely be going back!!

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: Smoke smoke smoke! Literally a cloud hangs over the campground at night. There are always environmentalists protecting the birds here... What about our lungs and the atmosphere!
We have stopped going here because of this. Too bad cause this campground could be so great.
We've suggested several times a no fire ring section, or a group fire area as many other military facilities have done, but so far no change. Just too many spots too close together to handle so much smoke.

Rogue1

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: They have horrible showers. Cold water, cold building, no privacy and dirty. Not as pet friendly as you may think. No dog park and not allowed on beach. If you don't make a month reservation you will be moving around the park alot. It should be first come first served. The weekends are buzy but not as full as they tell you.
Pricing needs adjustment on back rows.

Chris

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: Tents are ok contrary to the description. Loud party crowd, worse on weekends, tightly packed. Parking rules not enforced so everyone brings 5 cars and crowds things even more. I have to say I would expect more from a Marine Base. Laundry facilities are disgusting but bathrooms are nice. It is right in the beach whether you get a front row spot or not so it gets three stars. The staff is super helpful and friendly.

Melody

For Del Mar Beach Cottages: Give this a solid 5 if you're a beach lover. We stayed here for one week. The weekend filled up with party goers but otherwise the campground was relatively quiet. A Pineapple Express (we call them nor'easters back home) rolled in and for two days we were buffeted by strong winds and high surf. Lost power a couple of times but other than that, everything worked fine. No wifi unless you want to pay $3 a day (that's $21 for just one week). The rates are a little higher than other bases but, hey, you're in prime resort area. Imagine what you would be paying in a private campground.
