For Potrero County Park: No hot water in the showers. Unless you are self contained, keep looking

For Potrero County Park: An absolute gem of a county park. We stayed in Site #26 (water/electric), which had a bit more privacy and backed up to the wilderness area. We knew in advance of their potable water quality issues so we arrived with a full fresh water tank. The roads and sites are beautifully paved. The live oak trees were wonderful. We enjoyed all of the rugged mountains in the surrounding area. The park rangers couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, even offering to deliver firewood to the campsite. Lots of wildlife in the area, we saw a bobcat our first evening and fell asleep every night to sound of yipping coyotes. It can get windy here during winter storms or when the Santa Ana sets in but that’s a minor nit. Bathrooms are okay, we did not use the showers. We will most certainly be back.

For Potrero County Park: Site 9, electric and water only. Convenient dump on the way out or in. Concrete, some shade. Tecate closes the car border crossing at 2:30. Be sure to park on the US side and walk in. Nice trails and nice scenery .

For Potrero County Park: Great spot for our first night out in our trailer! We chose space 29, which was easy to back into due to a road directly across leading to tent camping that we were able to use to pull into and then back straight into our site. Near the ranger station Having water and electric for $29 a night was great! Beautiful oak trees on site and pine trees across the road to see outside our windows. Site had a picnic table and fire ring, didn't get a chance to use either this time. Plenty of room for our 30' trailer and truck. Our kids had a great time riding their bikes around the campground. We were also not too far from the nature trail, great family hike with pretty springtime flowers. Very quiet on a Friday night in April. Did not check out the bathrooms. Would have liked a little more space and privacy, but definitely better than the average RV "campground". We would totally stay here again, as it's local to us and great for a short getaway. The park rangers were super nice. Also convenient for visiting the railroad museum in Campo (which has a big gravel lot for parking, plenty of room to stop and have lunch). We didn't really have any issues with the drive and we're total newbies, although we do live in the mountains and are used to this sort of roads. We were able to get gas while towing at the Sinclair station in Campo.

For Potrero County Park: What a nice surprise this was. Pros: big Oak trees, birds, squirrels everywhere; spacious sites, mountainous terrain. Cons: no dump hookup at site, but has community dump, some low trees in sites, not all sites have firepits, no pull Throughs.

It was a pretty, natural setting for a weekend getaway. Will return again!

For Potrero County Park: Nice County Park just 5 miles from the Tecate border crossing into Mexico. Perfect place to either stage or regroup for trip to or from the Baja Peninsula. All the sites are large, paved with a fire ring. Most have water and power. Park is largely open with scattered trees. We paid $27 for our site with water and electricity. No sewer at sites, but there's an on-site dump station. Bathrooms are adequate and unheated, including showers. Quiet location in a pretty area.
