For KOA Holiday Shingletown: Excellent KOA! Friendly and helpful staff. Patti is wonderful!!! Huge pull thru site. We are 50 feet total and had lots of extra room. They have a new Wi-Fi system so we were able to steam with no buffering. Awesome Wi-Fi at no extra charge. Large dog park. We were actually able to play ball with our lab because the dog park is so big. We stayed 6 nights and it was a great experience.

Midwest to West

For KOA Holiday Shingletown: This has been one of my favorite KOAs. The park was super clean. Our site was pretty level and had a nice patio with a fire pit on it. The entire koa staff has been the friendliest I’ve met. So many activities for kids and some for adults as well. Will definitely stay here again.

For KOA Holiday Shingletown: Nice location in the trees, near Mt. Lassen National park, but it is in the boonies and our spot was kind of level, but almost too small for our 36'class A motorhome, towing. WIFI very intermittent and spotty, but staff was nice and electric and water worked as expected.

Ron

For KOA Holiday Shingletown: My first time in a RV park let alone a KOA. Even with a brand new trailer and with it being winter had a great time. Also most of their campground activities are closed for winter they offer a discount for the off season. Managers were very nice and pleasant. Will be coming back during the actual season for sure!

Seminole, Navion

For KOA Holiday Shingletown: Electric, water and cable at the site worked perfect. All seemed newer. The site was far from level, even with blocks. No wifi. I don't care what they advertise, it just didn't work, even for simple email checking. Verizon didn't work here either. My biggest complaint was the shower. Everything was clean and functioning, but evidently they had molded showers installed with a raised floor and didn't bother to raise the shower head which was below, seriously, well below my shoulders. Even my wife, who is 5'2 said she had to bend over to rinse her hair. Major flaw. We stayed one night on our way to Lassen Park. Wouldn't have stayed more.

Steph

For KOA Holiday Shingletown: This campground is trying to be a destination, but it just doesn't have it. Nice place to stay as a base camp while exploring the National Park and surrounding area. If you are looking for an awesome KOA that is perfect for families, then try Trinity Lake KOA. After one day here, we wished we were back at Trinity Lake. This park really seems more appropriate for the older camper. It offers a lot of activities for the kids, but without the youth group planned activities (like Trinity offers) they go largely unused. The staff tend to be much older and somewhat creates a more dull environment. Sorry, trying to word this carefully.
Showers were clean and well ventilated(fan), but the water temp was unpredictable. Our first shower was miserable, Luke warm with a quick switch to scalding hot. I had to take my 8 & 10 year old to the shower so I could help regulate the water. Even with my help my youngest got burned. No permanent damage but she was not easy to convince to get in the shower again after that. With only a handful of full hookup sites, showering in our trailer was not an option. The showers after that first day were a little better, but depending on the time of day and others using the laundry and showers it is hard to predict the water temperature.
The laundry was clean with 4 washers and 4 dryers. The cost was a bit excessive at $2 for a 25 minute wash and $2 for a 45 min dry. I have seen better prices at other KOA's.
The pool was a bit chilly and a little small.
They advertise pet friendly, but that's a stretch. Everywhere you look is a sign saying NO PETS. NO pets on the grass, no pets near the pool, no pets in the laundry, no pets around the office, no pets in the store, no pets around the bike rental, no pets in the playground. We had to run to the store down the road because the camp store carries the basics and not much more (no beer/wine FYI) and put our dogs in the RV in their crates. We had just checked in and hadn't read the full rules. On the drive to the store I was reading the rules and discovered in the fine print it says not to leave dogs unattended. We turned right around and went back. We were gone maybe 15-20 minutes. The minute we pulled up, one of the older workers was already complaining to us. I asked about taking my kids to the pool and if it's OK to leave the dogs at the campsite while we swim (30ft away). My dogs are well behaved and only occasionally bark (squirrels). I was told my husband And I would have to take turns. One of us swim with the kids while the other stays at camp with the dogs. There is not even a place near the pool where we can take the dogs. I was willing to sit outside the pool area with the dogs so we could all enjoy family time.
It is a fine campground for the elderly camper or those with really young kids and no pets. We stayed because we were meeting friends that camp there frequently. Our friends are what made this campground tolerable, but without them we won't be returning anytime soon. Trinity KOA is our favorite.
