For Tahoe Valley Campground: Stayed here for 2 weeks to visit our son; CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS CAMPGROUND.
PROS: FHU, have to request a 50 amp site. I made my reservation months in advance online, would not guarantee a site #, even after I called a week ahead to confirm. Arrived to a 30 amp site that was too tight, had to go back & complain to get moved to a 50 amp site.
If you like tall pine trees and an occasional bear, this is a good place for you.
CONS: No discount for extended stay = $54/night
Weak WiFi, could not log on most days. West AT&T signal, no Verizon. Tall trees = difficult DISH signal.
Terrible entrance, either of 3 possible choices, not well marked from Hwy. 50. Rough roads, partly paved, so many pine needles it was hard to tell road from not road. Poor signage for the interior roads to find your site, roads wind in and around all the trees, sites not well marked.
Dusty dirty sites, not paved at all.
Airport just behind campground, lots of helicopter and plane noise. Airport is used for military high-altitude training at times with heavy helicopter traffic.
Not many RV choices in South Lake; but I would rather not stay here again.

For Tahoe Valley Campground: We used passport America and stayed for $30. I can't imagine paying full price for this place as the sites were pretty wacky and tight and most of the facilities were closed including the pool. They put us next to an ugly fence next to a storage lot. Fence had a huge hole in it and our neighbors warned that a bear came through it last night. We alerted the office and they didn't seem to care much and pooh-poohed us and said they have bears all the time and they're nothing to worry about and maintenance would fix the fence. Hole is still there as we are leaving...
This place could probably be great but it's just mediocre at best. Needs lots of tlc and upgrades. This place isn't very close to Lake Tahoe or anything if interest either. We won't be back.

For Tahoe Valley Campground: Has a lot to offer but there a tons of sites I believe over 400. The facilities could use some updating along with the roads but it's a nice park that we would stay at again. Very busy in July.

Larryguy

For Tahoe Valley Campground: Very expensive for what is here... Paved roads but lots of pot holes and cracks, dirt and more dirt, old park with no upgrades in years, in pines....wifi very very slow, dish poor due to trees, cable snowy and 14 channels...

Was given a premium site the first go around that my 36 foot rig would have to bend in the middle to back into due to trees... Back to office for another site!

Takes plenty of discounts but not in July or August ... They try selling Thousand Trails ... 3 stars just for Lake Tahoe just beautiful otherwise 2 stars at tops.

Next time I'll make reservations in an area state park .

For Tahoe Valley Campground: We stayed here just after Labor Day in the "off season". This is an Encore park that gives 20% off for thousand trails members. Was about $40/night after discount for us. Nice playground and tennis court. Lots of trees. Scope your spot before parking some are tight. We had a premium spot with water, sewer, and it only had 30 amp electric (what the heck?!). Also had a grill. Laundry room was kinda small, $1.50 wash, $1.50 dry. Our spot was by the entrance and very dark and quiet.

Camping4Life

For Tahoe Valley Campground: Excellent facility underneath the tall pines. Pool, horseshoe pits, pool table, ping pong, movie tent, very quiet with the exception of an occasional small plane taking off or landing.

Kids love it. Cool waking trails and biking area. Mgmt very friendly. We'll be back!

Big rigs make sure to specify your size to the office. Some areas are very tight in terms of width driving through the driveway routes around the camp. Several pine trees have scrape marks on the insides of them.

For Tahoe Valley Campground: Awesome location under the pines. No Satilitte service. Too many trees.
