For Emma Wood State Beach: yes, there is no water or shore power.. BUT you are literally parked on the beach. i stayed at spot 21. spot22 is not used and was open in front us. at this site you park parallel which was fine for me since in class A. during high tide waves crash at seawall base.. you are right there. lots of moisture from ocean spray. i loved this. great ocean smell and sounds. and here is best part. if you want to stay all day, break camp at dawn and park for free along PCH from 6am to 9pm ... FREE no noon checkout!! stay till dark then drive home

For Emma Wood State Beach: We don’t know why this place got bad reviews. It’s beautiful, clean, quiet, and lovely with nice beach. We arrived late at night and got a spot easily after trying to do it the right way : calling n rsvp online. None of that worked for last minute arrival. So come here n park. Do your job to keep it clean. Enjoy.

For Emma Wood State Beach: Dirty dump of a parking lot. For $40 a night they could clean it up. It's a poorly maintained eyesore that is next to the ocean. So many better spots for the same price just a mile or two away. Rincon a much better, cleaner camping area

For Emma Wood State Beach: What no tents ? Camping isn't camping with out a tent! What if you can't afford a 100,000 dollar motor home ? Discrimination to the max . I bet the county Thinks with will keep out the homeless . But at 35 to 45 bucks a night , homeless folks couldn't afford it, No tents that sucks !!!!! I'm not coming back !

For Emma Wood State Beach: As close as you can get to the ocean without leaving your RV. We slept with the windows open and slept to the sound of the waves crashing. Then we got up and took a walk along the trail. The ranger came along and warned us that if it rained, we wouldn't be able to get out. He was very friendly.
That being said, we pulled in at midnight not knowing what we were getting into.
If we had a big expensive bus, we wouldn't have gone in. There's huge boulders along the road that makes it a tight squeeze. The camp ground itself has been washed out in floods and the spaces are former asphalt pads that are now chunks of asphalt and rocks and dirt. There are no amenities but some trash cans and a few portable toilets.
We enjoyed our stay but in hindsight would have traveled a couple of more miles to the next one with MUCH easier access.
If you are into primitive camping and have a smaller rig, it's worth the bumpy entry.

ShipTrip

For Emma Wood State Beach: We loved this place even though its a bit like a parking lot. We were right against the ocean. Great beach, famous surf spot and bike path nearby. Totally dry camping, but awesome to hear the waves at night. Bothered a bit by campfire smoke. The neighbors generator when on past hours so we called the ventura police department And connected us with park rangers after hours who quickly responded. A couple of sites are small and right up against the sea wall -try not to get these. Also watch the directions. The Emma Wood group campground is in Ventura, the beach campground is a few miles west of ventura off the 101 and no signs on the highway.

Dirtrider1974

For Emma Wood State Beach: This place is very primitive and you have to plan for total dry camping. The spots are very tight. Don't fall for the "pull through" spot description. This just means they run parallel to the road and water and you are RIGHT against the sea wall in some spots. It is a neat atmosphere and we will venture back this year for a second try at a better spot. LOCK up your stuff as Ventura has a transient population that comes by in full force. Also some gangmembers cross the tracks mid park to walk around. There are Rangers so if you see something report it. 34 Foot Class A
