For Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area: We stayed 8/9/19 thru 8/11/19. $25.00/night. Site 116. We pulled our 39' Monaco Knight in nose first for the beautiful lake view out the front windows. We leveled easily, but many sites slope significantly. Lots of mowed and well-marked walking trails around the lake through forests and meadows. Birds, waterfowl, and deer in abundance. Surprisingly, there is a camp store at every loop. The main boat dock has a camp store, decent restaurant, and boat rental with quite a variety of watercraft. We'll visit here again.

For Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area: Very nice sites, nice trails, bathrooms only ok. There is a playground in ok shape, but will need some future maintenance. Beautiful lake with fishing and kayak or boat rental. We found the campground to be very quiet. It did rain quite a bit and it was in May when we stayed on a Friday thru Monday. I would stay there again. Electric only with a dump station and water fill. Some sites are reservable others are 1st come. There are also several handicap sites available. Very large fire pits and a small general store on site. Also a restaurant on site. We didn’t eat there but I was told the breakfast was good. 4 stars due to maintenance needed in bathrooms and playground.

For Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area: We stayed 7/14 thru 7/16/2017 in a 35ft travel trailer. the sites have electric only, but fresh water is availible upon arrival. One stall dump station on exiting the park. Nice fishing lake with bait shop and resturant with good food at affordable prices. However, the campgrounds are not kept clean, and the camp rules are not enforced as there are not any rangers there. there are 4 camp host sites and the burden falls with them. Loud music, midnight bonfires, flashlights all night long, dogs barking all night was not what I was looking for. Big sign thats states NO ALCOHOL upon entry, but that didnt stop people from partying all night. If thats the camping you like to do, then make a reservation. As for me, I will go somewhere structured and quiet

Maddie

For Shabbona Lake State Recreation Area: Nice lake for fishing. Sites are well spaced but not level so may be a problem for motor homes. Shower and toilet facilities are too few especially on weekends.
