For Grand Haven State Park: Oct. 2019: We loved this park. Yes, it’s a parking lot, but you cannot beat the view! We were directly on the water with a great view of the lake, pier & lighthouses, and gorgeous sunset. Playground for the kids, nice walk to restaurants and shopping. ** We read numerous complaints about the width of the sites, and would like to note that it seems they have re-lined the boundaries (maybe eliminated a spot or two?) to make them wider. We had no trouble getting a 34’ motor home backed in with opposing slides out, and we still had decent space to place a picnic table.

For Grand Haven State Park: This “campground “ is literally a parking lot. Yes it is on the shore of Lake Michigan and some sites back up to the sand / water. And yes it is walking distance to Grand Haven but this is not a park. There is absolutely no grass and just one or two small trees. The sites are slightly wider than a regular parking space. All rigs are required to back in. If you have a trailer or 5th wheel, you can not leave your vehicle on site - you must park it in a separate lot. You can not leave a towed vehicle or “toad” on site either. There are many other State Park campgrounds that are close to the lake and beach but offer a more pleasant, private experience.

Mighty Lynn

For Grand Haven State Park: Another great MI campground! Beautiful lakefront sites, easy walk into downtown Grand Haven. Clean modern restrooms & showers. Yes, sites are small, you came here for the lake, sun and sand and you got it! Lots of interesting restaurants, brew pubs & waterfront activities. People are welcoming. Charter boats for fishing on "the big lake" or put your own craft in at boat ramp and enjoy Grand River & Spring Lake

For Grand Haven State Park: Another over priced Michigan State park. This would be a cool place to camp - some of the campsites are right on the water, and all are on the beach. The downside is that the sites are CRAZY small. I cannot recommend this place for big rigs, especially with slides on both sides. Also, the only way in to the bark winds though a lot of small city street. The city trolley serves the park Memorial Day through Labor Day, and will take you to the terrific musical fountain. BUT! The park is VERY CROWDED during these times, and the sites are TOO SMALL,!!!
