For Mclain State Park: We were here for two nights in a 25ft Class C in July 2023. This campground is on the shore of Lake Superior. Sites on the shore side are not private, but you have a view of the lake. We were in a back loop so it was pretty private with a nice large site. Nice bathrooms and separate shower rooms. The campground had a lot of people so the bathroom was always busy. Didn’t use the showers. Nice hiking trails, beach, playground and separate dog beach. Beautiful sunset and views of the lighthouse. Would come again if in the area.

For Mclain State Park: Fantastic view of Lake Superior from our rig. Nice paved & level site. Electric only @ 30A, but you know that coming in and with the temps in the 70s and below, its not an issue. Easy access to the Keweenaw peninsula. Would definitely return. Stayed over the 4th of July weekend 2023, rates were reasonable with a total cost of $116 for 3 holiday weekend nights including the booking fee.

For Mclain State Park: Spectacular view of Lake superior from our level asphalt site. The nicest and most immaculate showers, individual and locking, that we have ever encountered in any RV park. Rather expensive with all the extra fees but the view was worth it. We stayed two nights in early June and couldn’t believe how late the sun set…9:45pm. Would definitely return. Delightful staff as well.

For Mclain State Park: Stayed for 7 days the first week of May. This was the only campgrounds open at this time for our daughter’s graduation from Michigan Tech. We have a 35 foot fifth wheel, and we had a great place. No problems getting in, and site was level asphalt. Out our back window we could see Lake Superior Iit was only 30 yards away. The campground is wooded, and the sites are spacious. We were about 9 miles from Houghton/Hancock, which was fine. Due to the early dates in the season, the water and dump stations were not on. They let us fill from the hose at the guard station. The outhouses were open, and they were actually quite nice.

For Mclain State Park: Most sites are not conducive to big rigs. Backing into site is very difficult due to close trees. Our site (60) requires >50 feet of extension cords to reach box. You must exit and re-enter the park to use dump. While the site rate was $22, the added park passport for the rig was $30 for the annual and for the toad another $7. That makes for a total rate of $33 for electric only site with 25 amp service. Won't return.

For Mclain State Park: Typical state park. Nice facilities, if not natures paradise. Except wonderful lake superior frontage and sunsets. Lots of big rigs during our late sept 3 day stay. Good location for exploring the keweenaw peninsula.
