Gary

For Lake Walker Campground: This is one of the nicest camps we have stayed at in our travels this year. We had site #34 in the older side which had a view of the lake and had a stone picnic table and fire ring. We have a 35ft rv pulling a car and this was the peffect pull through. If your big like us stay away from the low numbers the sites might be hard to get into, but all very pretty. They also have a new park side that have cement pads and pull throughs for big rigs. That’s the side we originally was assigned but just didn’t have the feel of the wooded area. Also has a nice All Rank Club that has food and drinks. Would suggest to go during lunch, much better meals. Base Exchange new but on the small side and really only for snacks and liquids. Town is about 20 minutes away but has everything there for your needs. Suggest to stop over, we stayed a week. Great place!

For Lake Walker Campground: Nice, clean campsite. Lodging office staff was friendly and very helpful. Be aware, the new campground has no restrooms/facilities.

For Lake Walker Campground: The base is almost like a ghost town, you see barracks everywhere but very little active, it almost reminds me of a concentration camp. They do not have a commissary and there BX is very small. The base is extremely clean and surrounded by woods. Its very quiet with several small lakes that surround the area. We stayed in the new area, the spots are paved and ours backed into the woods. Wifi is okay but not great, you can get aprox 20 free tv antenna channels. Its about 15 miles south of Hattisburg and 40 miles south of Laural. Use the South gate if you are pulling a trailer. Be very careful what travel app you use, make sure the app take you out if town and not the one in downtown Hattisburg. I would stay here again..

Livin the Dream

For Lake Walker Campground: We are stayed here for 2 weeks and the price was great at $15.00 a day. The NEW sites w/concrete pads sites 34-56 is a work in progress. The grass was overgrown and a little neglected but the site we were in (56) was level but other reviewers said sites were not. I can see that because the new area is sort of on a hill. Couple of fyi’s—if you call ahead, you can get your site number, check in and pay for it before arriving. If you are in sites 34-56 (new ones) it is easier to take 16th street—pass by C street and go right to 26th. Satellite shows a wooded area but the west side has been cleared. This is helpful for big rigs like ours—instead of going all the way around from FamCamp entrance, also there is a very narrow road that crosses over old side. There are some ATV trails we hiked which were close by. The older side is nice but the sites close together and small to back in too. Great for smaller travel trailers. Hopefully, they continue to upgrade and landscape the new area—we would pay more on that side if they did. The view of the lake is great especially in the morning. We would return and stay again.

For Lake Walker Campground: Great price at $15, quiet, secure, and nice level concrete pull through in the “new” area. Staff was very helpful in giving directions since we’d never been there before. Sewer was about midway up the pad and electric in the back, but our connections all still reached. Would’ve given 5 stars but no WiFi and cell signal was iffy (AT&T and T Mobile) plus no bath house or trash dump. Ok for an overnight.

For Lake Walker Campground: Quiet, peaceful, big pull through spot w/full hookups at site 53. Nice of the lake. Can’t beat it for $15/ night! Sewer drain was oddly well up front of the water/electric, so we pulled forward and dumped in the morning on our way out. No dumpster, so we took our trash with us but wasn’t a big deal after a very good night’s rest. Didn’t see the PX but our neighbor said it was close, as is the military museum. Can fish in the lake w/military ID.

For Lake Walker Campground: Hidden gem. We were looking for a Place to stop for a couple days on our way from Shreveport to panhandle of Florida. The sites are right on the lake for concrete pads with full hook ups and it looks like they’re building new ones that I’m not sure when it’s gonna open. You can’t beat the price!
