For Lake Francis State Park: I agree with the previous positive reviews. Lovely treed setting on a large, beautiful lake. Only drawback in my opinion is that only about half the sites had water and electric. The rest were dry camping. But waterpoints were available. We’ll be back.

For Lake Francis State Park: Picturesque lake in the Connecticut Lakes chain which form the headwaters of the Connecticut River. Sites by the lake are gravel. 20A and water, but expect to need extension cord and long hose. There is water along the common road, though, so filling tank is perhaps the better option. Welcome center has 4 showers, each individual rooms, one of which is handicapped. The water pressure in the showers is amazing. Best coin-op shower, and best shower at all at any state park anywhere in the country. Park staff is great. Dump station is well set up. Trash and recycling collection. If there’s any negative, it’s that there isn’t much in the way of hiking trails. You can go up along the river where many folks will be fly fishing, but beyond that all the hiking trails require a drive to the trail head. Bring a kayak and enjoy the lake. This is moose country, but none were around. Had hoped we would see one.

For Lake Francis State Park: Really a 4.5 This park has the cleanest bathrooms and separate shower suites that I have experienced at a state park. BEST shower pressure ever. Wow. They charge for showers at 25 cents per 3 minutes. Nice laundry room. Very nicely kept park. FULL Verizon LTE bars!! Grass sites. This is a very good find! The park is located off a highly rated road in ‘ moose country ‘, and that’s why I’m here, plus the fall foliage show. Trees are turning, but didn’t see a Bullwinkle, yet. Many sites have a clear view of the southern sky. The Canadian border is about 15 miles from here. I would rate this place even higher if I wasn’t charged for a shower ( I know, it’s only a quarter per three minutes) while paying $25.00 to boondock. Also, the road leading to the park off Hwy 3 is hard packed sand and rock with a few bumps here and there, but not too bad considering where we are. Minor issues I know. There are electric and water sites, playground, basketball court and a boat ramp. This is a very good find! Let me remind you,,,FULL Verizon LTE bars!!!
