For Angel Peak Recreation Area: From Farmington follow Hwy 550 or from the south to the sign for Angel Peak Scenic area. If you turn early or follow Google you may be told to turn too early. The campground can also handle larger rigs than noted, there are only 3-4 sites. We have a 28’9” bumper tow and had no problem and saw longer rigs. Might be tougher for longer motorhomes. Road had been recently graded and was in great shape. All 9 sites filled every night we were here, plus there was always someone camped at the Cliffs picnic area. Bring toilet paper for the pit toilets. It was clear that the BLM hadn’t been around for sometime. Of the 9 sites (if I’m remembering the order correctly) the first one is a back in for a smaller trailer or camper, then there is one parallel to the road which we saw a mid-size trailer back into, then another one on a hill suitable for a tenter, then at the end of the loop is a large double-site for two rigs and will accommodate two large rigs if parked correctly, right next to the double is a site on a steep hill again for a tenter, next one pull-thru site large enough for a big rig or trailer, down the road are the last two back in sites both capable of accommodating fairly large trailers. It’s interesting to note that the last site has two picnic tables but only one covered (all other tables are covered) but only one large parking space. I suppose a group could fit there but I doubt two families would want to encroach on the other because you have to walk past the first table to get to the next. From this location we visited Chaco Canyon, Bisti Badlands and Aztec Ruins. There is a .5 mile hike to a balanced rock out of the double site space. There are other attractions in the area that we didn’t visit. Farmington, Bloomfield and Aztec are close for propane and RV dump.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: Breathtaking scenery..like a mini Grand Canyon. Road in is a little rough..but had no problem pulling our trailer..just go slow.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: The road was almost impassable. Almost got stuck in the deep sand in the second mile of the road. Finally found a place to turn around and got a spot inn an RV park in Bloomfield. Would not recommend this campground, especially for a short stay (the road is too bad). We usually boondock in BLM dispersed camping areas, so we are not “wimps” when it comes to dirt roads. Very disappointed.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: Almost turned around as the road was really rough but kept on. It got better as we went but first three to four miles were 10 mph. I'm sure the roughness changes periodically. Really glad we came on. Remarkably beautiful. Stayed at the northernmost site. Views are amazing. Have a 33' 5th wheel. No proplems with site. Didn't have to disconnect from truck as leveling didn't take much. Other sites are snall for large rv's. Worth the rough road.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: We were looking for a CG in the general area to break up a long drive. We prefer boondocking spots as we're self-contained. We stayed on a weeknight in mid-October in our 25 foot MH. This is a beautiful, primitive CG! We noted the sign to Angel Peak Scenic Area/ RD 7175 heading east 15 miles south of Bloomfield. The 6-mile unpaved road to the CG was good with a few washboard areas where we reduced our speed. Signage was good. Views of the canyon along the road were impressive.The end of the road is a loop with 9-10 campsites and a few parking areas for picnics. The sites vary in size and are spaced apart nicely with some desert shrub/trees for additional privacy. All are dirt. Some are level, most need some leveling. There's no shade at the campsites, although there are patio covers at the picnic area tables. There's a pit toilet. All sites are a short walk to the rim of the canyon. Sites on the north side of the loop have the best views. There's good ATT and Verizon coverage. We had planned to stay for one night and extended our stay to two nights. Great place to chill! There are several trails around the rim and into the canyon. There are also miles of dirt roads for walks.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: I would give the scenery a five. The campground is small but there is room for big rigs. We r 36 ft RV w/ tow. Neighbor is 41 ft w/tow vehicle. Road in is nice gravel/ dirt when weather is nice. Bathrooms r pit and could use some attention and no paper available. Campsights have fire pit and table. Camping is free. No water.

For Angel Peak Recreation Area: Great spot. Most sites had a table & fire ring and some are steps from a gorgeous view. Seems like it's killer windy all the time though.
