Marion

For Lavaland RV Park: This RV park is easy on/off I-40 and it appears that they added some newer sites with concrete pads and new electric pedestals. These are the pull-through sites closest to I-40 and include Site #28. The other pull-through sites look fine but are gravel/dirt. Do not choose a back-in site; they are not well graded and are tiny. The park wants you to use their online system, even if it is last minute, and it worked for me. I would stay here again but it’s not a resort.

For Lavaland RV Park: Power water and sewer worked. People were friendly other than that this is an extremely run down and dirty campground. The sites are a mix of sand and stone also so close together you only have room for a lawn chair. If you have a taller camper you will scratch the roof entering some of the sites from trees. Some of the residents have been here for a very very long time along with there campers ;-). Stayed for 2 days in a 38' motor home towing. Can't comment on the bathrooms didn't use them. I would not recommend this campground nor would I come back.

Lynne W

For Lavaland RV Park: Fine place for what we needed. On our way to Arizona via I-40 and only needed electric hookup. Reservation system online worked great and everything was ready when we arrived. We did not see any employees. We would stop again if needed for only overnight stay.

Horseplayranch

For Lavaland RV Park: Interesting to say the least. Rolled in around 2:00. Didn’t finishing setting up until 4:00. It would seem they have way too much going on. Workers are trying to do too much. They are trying to work the brewery, motel and campground. It appears that this little campground was a gem in its day. There are trees. Spaces are level, and the staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, many problems. Some sites the water is broken. Some sites the power does not work, or there is no sewer. The cable that is advertised doesn’t work. I ended up taking the surge protector to each site to make sure there was power. Then checked the water and looked for sewer. Never did get connected to the WIFI. At least 17 permanents. Only found 3 picnic tables. Didn’t bother checking the laundry or restrooms. It is a quiet place. Frenchie did give us some great driving information. He suggested we take 6 west off 25 to 40 west. Took the diagonal. Less traffic and smooth road. Thanks Frenchie

Jen

For Lavaland RV Park: I stopped here for the night and was pleasantly surprised. They have a brewery on site, laundry facilities, and bathroom and shower facilities. Sites are level and they offer discounts for good Sam and AAA members. You do hear some noise from the freeway, But it’s not horrible. I would stay again if I was passing through the area. Easy to get to off of Highway 40. There are long term residents that live here but several short term and people passing through as well. I gave it 4 stars because of spotty internet and the highway noise, other than that it was a great place to stop for the night.

Jeremy Drake

For Lavaland RV Park: Excellent campground for the price. A really great value. We were super happy. The sites are level, the park is quiet, the highway noise can only be heard outside your rig, nice tree, close to the interstate and costs about a third of many other parks we’ve stayed in the last month traveling out west.I’m not sure why other campers have had any highway noise complaints because, for the price this is a perfect campground

Undermills

For Lavaland RV Park: Park is clean. Near highway so loud and near El Malpais National Monument which is a nice visit. But they do not seem to follow COVID guidelines. No mask in office.
