Ross

For Susan Creek Campground: We returned to Susan's Creek about 2 weeks ago on our way to Roseburg. We had wanted to see what it looked like from the many times our family use to camp there. There use to be a paved walk way down to where the rock bed of the river starts. We found that to be ADA friendly in some regard, because at the least, anyone with a walker or wheel chair could be taken down to the end of the walkway and view the river at a distance. This is no longer possible. walkway was removed. A family member of mine with a walker had to wait for me at camp while I walked down to the river. She could no longer admire the river from afar on that walkway, again, since walkway had been removed long ago. Lots of brush has grown over the river bed rocks, and one needs almost a machete to get through it to get to the river. This was not the case back in the 60s early 70s. There was no brush to hinder one's view of the river, or river beds. If the brush is allowed to continue to grow, eventually getting to the river will be impossible! I cannot believe the people who smoke and leave cigarette butts along the trails! For God sake idiots, we have extreme fire hazard ratings at this time, and Oregon is in its worst severe drought!!!! It really makes me angry, the thoughtlessness of some people who smoke, and what little regard they have for our forest, human life and wildlife!!!

For Susan Creek Campground: The real question is Why isn’t EVERYONE staying here? It’s a beautiful campground with incredible clean free hot showers. After 5 days without a real shower it was a little bit of heaven. We arrived on a Friday around 2:00 and had no problem finding a great level spot. The whole place is immaculate.

For Susan Creek Campground: ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! For $10 night (senior pass) we stayed in site 9, walk up, not reserved. One of the most beautiful places we’ve stayed in this country. We can hear the Umpqua River, have a huge site with fire ring and grill along with picnic table. Area was immaculate and freshly raked. Quiet even though most sites are filled. Sites 19 to 31 can be reserved during summer but we are so pleased with the one we got. Who cares about sketchy cell service when you’re in a nature lover’s paradise? Kudos to the BLM for this jewel!

Susan

For Susan Creek Campground: Very clean, friendly hosts, many trails. The trails have a world supply of healthy poison oak. A beautiful area but the poison oak is a real concern if you like to walk the trails.

Mauriewear

For Susan Creek Campground: The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is sketchy cell signal. Rest is A1. Nice surprise, 1st come 1st served, GREAT showers, beautiful Umpqua River running alongside with a great swimming hole. Really nice.
