For Montgomery Bell State Park: Beautiful park with large trees and a creek running through it! Quiet. Very relaxing! We stayed in a premium spot with plenty of room and no trouble backing our 37 for fifth wheel in! Would love to come again!!

For Montgomery Bell State Park: Old park and needs some updates. I got put in a lot extremely hard to back into. Had to fold in mirrors, do allot of maneuvers and block the road for awhile. Take allot of blocks because you may have to do some major leveling. Don’t bother with the WiFi the cell signal is better. Small and very close together lots. Might just as well went to Walmart parking lot.

Local yokel

For Montgomery Bell State Park: I’ve lived around here most of my life but never gave this camp ground a chance. My wife and I just bought a new travel trailer and want to try it out close to home so we booked 2 nights. The restrooms are clean the lots are level and the staff at the welcoming center was very helpful. We will definitely go back as soon as we can get time off work.

Relaxing Laxson

For Montgomery Bell State Park: Great quiet campground. We were there during the week in mid-May and it was only half full and most were either retired and/or full timers, so it was very quiet. We didn’t have anybody on either side so we were able to spread out into the grassy area between us and the other site on our awning side. We rented the same site two weeks later and had neighbors on both sides. Not bad on utility side but this time we couldn’t put up our hammock because we only had about three feet between the edge of our patio area and their hookups. The other thing is that our site, 115, was so narrow on that side because of 2 trees we were unable to extend our awning much more than 10 feet hence why the first time we had sprawled into the grassy area on that side. Another down side is that on the second trip we stayed from Monday until Sunday and on Friday night the campground filled completely up and our view out the back was of the campsites in the row behind us. I hate to sound ugly but our view was ruined because the 3 sites behind us we occupied by a large family group who erected 2 large canopies behind 2 large tents for the kids to sleep. They weren’t noisy or really messy, it was just that our view now was filled with their party and not of quiet green space. We camp to get away from the city where our neighbors are right on top of us, and to get away from our busy life, so for me it felt like all the busyness had followed me. For me I would have preferred to have had them across the street where all of their gathering and activity would have been diluted by their RVs. Just personal preference. Next time we plan to rent a site where behind us is no other campsite but take a page out of their book and have our canopy behind us so the kids can spread out and put up their hammocks.

Kayaker

For Montgomery Bell State Park: Sites are terrible for Eva. What they call moderate incline is so steep we couldn't have gotten to level and the trailer would have fallen down. As you drive around no directionals telling you which way is exit. Great if you are in a tent

For Montgomery Bell State Park: Wonderful state park! One of our favs!
Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating: 4.5 stars
RV: 25' motorhome

We loved this park! We went to the website ahead of time as a stop-over while driving the Natchez Trace and chose our spot based on the website map, site dimensions/description and photos. Loved that they had photos...really helped us select the perfect site. We reserved ahead and paid just under $41, including taxes and day use fees.

The campground has lots of trees/shade (not satellite friendly), a river, is easy to navigate, beautiful scenery, clean restrooms, and the campsites were incredibly wide/large with plenty of space cushion around so we weren't on top of our neighbors. Our site had hookups and was hard packed gravel/dirt. The park was fairly crowded for a Thursday, and the ranger came along that morning around checkout time to make sure we were vacating our space so they could ensure the next person wouldn't find us still there. Fair enough. We had a premium spot on the river, but it was more for ambiance as the flow was practically nil, so the river was a bit sketchy looking. Our site had a picnic table and fire-ring.

We had our dogs on 15 - 20 foot leads and they enjoyed plenty of room on our site without encroaching on neighbors sites. The other campers we met were friendly. Lots of kiddos riding bikes and having fun, and we didn't encounter loud, obnoxious campers at night. I would definitely recommend this beautiful park and would not hesitate to stay here again...only wish we'd had more time here to chill and enjoy the nice weather (June 1).
