For Midway RV Park: Among the very best military campgrounds! A real gem. Cul-de-sac sites were big with very large concrete slabs with easy access to water, sewer, and 50 amp hook ups.

This quaint park was located just outside of Memphis on a Naval Base. The park was very well manicured. We loved the layout of the sites in cul-de-sacs. It made so much sense and was very easy to back in, plus gave everyone more room. The park was small, but they were adding more sites.

The process seemed a little inconvenient at first. We made a reservation ahead of time. Upon arrival, it was confusing how to check in. There were brochures in the box and said to check in at the bathhouse/laundry facility if arriving before 5pm. We arrived at 4pm and no one was there. There was a camp host site, and no one was there either. Finally, I called the Elliott Rec Center where the reservation had gone through. I told them the site number we chose and they charged my card for the night. They were also very accommodating, as we had decided we wanted to stay 3 extra nights to which they had no problem. Later in the evening, a guy knocked on our door and introduced himself as the substitute camp host because the actual host was out of town. I guess I am curious as to what would have happened if the sites would have filled up before our arrival, as it said first come first serve on the brochure, yet we had made a reservation. The park was at full capacity by the end of the night.

The park was conveniently located by the Commissary, which was somewhat dated and small but had the essentials. The NEX was nearby, as was a Shopette. There was a half mile track by the youth center, a small but modern gym, outdoor basketball courts, and not much traffic. They also had a small Nature Trail.

Needless to say, we were pleasantly surprised by this base. It was like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I was in the area to visit a friend in Jackson, TN. It was worth it to stay here and make that drive in the Jeep. This will definitely be our pit stop when traveling thru this area, provided there is availability.

For Midway RV Park: My husband and I stayed over night in a 5th wheel RV. We had a reservation but you can try your luck. Beautiful small base but we were pleasantly surprised. Well cared for, the camp host was very helpful. Do not follow the google map on this AP. It is wrong, it took us to a questionable part of town. Follow the directions on the AP. The south gate closes at 6 pm or 1800 hrs so try to be aware of the time. If you are late you have to go thru the main gate. Back in spots only. Free wifi, many channels over the air but they come in better during the evening. It is well cared for, the only complaint would be that there is only one shower stall for the women and one for the men and there is only one bathroom in each. So if someone is using either or you have to wait. Free laundry. A lot of space between the campsites. Will definitely stay here again.

For Midway RV Park: Nice park, roadway is wide and easy to navigate. Sites are concrete not to close together. Very clean close to commissary and exchange. $21 night, $493 monthly. I reported that the direction were wrong but they may have updated them by now. The park is on the base so you must go through the gate, but no problem since they don't have barricades.
