For Emma Long Metropolitan Park: This was an absolutely horrible place to stay. There are about 20 porta potties to use. The first one we tried to use was almost full to the seat. There were camping sights filled with trash that when campers arrived they had to clean up. After dark there were no park personnel at all and the music from one group was so loud that we ran our fan all night just to try and not be subject to all the foul language that was being broadcast throughout the camp ground. For a spot along the water that should be so nice, it is obvious the city has decided it's not worth keeping up.

For Emma Long Metropolitan Park: Three stars only for waterfront RV sites. We came here to practice fulltiming before starting our trip. You would need a bike or a toad to get to trails. Without fishing there just isn't a lot to do here, at least during winter and especially for the price. It also didn't help the city-run park has no system for checking people in or out. Be prepared to wait if you arrive at noon sharp. Short slideshow here: http://youngfulltimers.com/thirty-second

Marit

For Emma Long Metropolitan Park: Paid 20 dollars and 10 dollars entrance fee (even though we only spent the (one) night), which makes it 30, which is way too much. Waterfront sites are even 5 more. The definite worst thing was the restrooms. They were filthy, old, rusty. For the three stalls there were two doors. It was very bad. Didn't even attempt to look at the showers, also because they were so far away from the RV spots. On the map it looks very close to the city, but is a good half hour drive. Wouldn't stay here again, and wouldn't recommend it. Gates didn't lock though.

Buffalo Bernie

For Emma Long Metropolitan Park: Don't rely on reviews alone. Despite there being no water available, we registered for 2 nights, $5 entry fee for car & motorhome, $25 per night for a total of $60. For that money, we expected the park to meet the reviews! Roads are full of potholes, sites are short, only 30 amps, no tv or WiFi, and no refunds, even if you didn't even attempt to park! Gates lock at 10 PM and we can't even go enjoy the nightlife of Austin! Lesson hard learned.
