For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: Stayed for 4 nights at an electric only site. Site was 30 amp with a picnic table and bbq grill (couldn’t use because of burn ban). My site was partially shaded and it was close to the bathhouse which made the lack of water hookup not a deal breaker. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would book again, but preferably at a full hookup site.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: This place needs TLC badly. They have the staffing but no one wants to put forth the effort. Our RV site was dirty, sticky bun left in grill with burned charcoal. Potholes all over the place and the upper RV park smelled of raw sewage. One of their Park Host outside conditions were trailer trash looking. Used discarded old trailers left on site. Find it hard to believe that a military base would allow this.

Melody

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: This campground needs some TLC. It has a neglected feel to it even though there seems to be a large staff. The roads need fixing. The sign on our site was faded and laying on the ground. Many of the election stanchion face plates were broken and propped up with rocks. They don’t know how to do scheduling very well. People were being forced to move from one site to another while campsites sat empty. We seldom saw anyone working around the campground. Supervisors need to be more diligent about what the folks are doing. All hookups worked fine. The internet was useless. Only available after hours since it interfered with office opens.

EK

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: The view from the campsite is wonderful. We can see Canyon Lake and watch the boats. There is a trail that leads down to the lake but no place to really go in the lake. There is a wonderful nature trail that goes partially around the campground. The marina and beach are in walking distance. I only give 3 out of 5 stars because of the litter I see in the bushes and different park areas. Also I feel the bathrooms are filthy so I will not use them. Thank goodness I have an RV.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: We spent Christmas season here since the Ft. Sam park was full. The place is beautiful and for $17 a day you cannot beat it. It was a bit cold however our furnace kept us toasty. Friendly people all around and very quiet. Lots of deer and a beautiful site! The staff was super friendly.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: We love coming to this area. The lake is beautiful and there is lots to see. You can rent boats or other water equipment. RV sites are nice but the bathrooms and shower facilities are in very poor condition and not clean.

For JBSA Recreation Park at Canyon Lake: Great place. I stayed there with my grandson last summer. It's very quite and clean. The isn't much to do on site. There are hiking trails, a place to swim, fish and boat rental. The price was geeat. I think it was $12.00 a day with water and electric hook up. I would go back.
