For Pine View Recreation Area: Stayed here for 2 weeks in our 44ft 5th wheel. Had a nice, long, level spot with some shade (trees blocked our satellite so we had to mess with it to get it right). Full hook ups. Didn’t use bath houses. The 1 laundry building they have is very small. 3 wash, 3 dry. They really need more. Not much in the store. Shopping is about 10-15 min to base. Small commissary & exchange. Drive to towns is about 20 min. Staff are very friendly. Lots of activities to do there. Dog walking & trails are great. Be for warned, the ticks are really bad all over. We would definitely stay here again.

For Pine View Recreation Area: Hands down this has got to be best RV Park. We were only going to spend 3 nights but after the first night, we decided to extend a week. The park is off base so both civilians and military can use it. Military gets a cheaper rate than civilians. People here are genuinely friendly and down right good people. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The town of Sparta welcomes you like family. I will definitely come back to this place.

For Pine View Recreation Area: For not being on base we still felt very secure. The campground was tucked back by the gate of the base. Tons to do for people of all ages. The campground is one of the larger military campgrounds we’ve seen and had nice lit trails throughout. Highly likely to stay here again in the future.

Sandor

For Pine View Recreation Area: Well maintained facility. Sunday through Thursday reasonable rates, Friday and Saturday rates almost doubled in price per night. Loads to do here with MWR. This facility is also open to the public. Open and well secluded sites abound, the more open the less insects. New Yurts about completed.

Meken

For Pine View Recreation Area: Spent two weeks here while TDY. Well kept park most spaces are huge more like being at a state park not a typical rv park. Customer service in the camp store leaves a little to be desired however the night time camp host was amazing. He even came by to warn us of an incoming storm. Plenty to do. The “lake” is a pond and the water was too creepy for my swimming desires but there’s paddle boats and stuff we rented. Lots of walking paths. Well lit at night, almost too well for camping but we have blackout curtains so sleeping was fine. The bugs were impossible but I imagine that is to be expected when camping.

For Pine View Recreation Area: Spent 4 nights in a great site with full hookups. Sties are well separated and quite. This is a full service campground. Propane is available at the office. Various types of RV’s are available for rent. Friendly staff.

Wynnie

For Pine View Recreation Area: Camp sites are HUGE. All but a few are on asphalt pads and level. A ton of things to do: cycle, fish, canoe, swim, mini-golf, shuffleboard.... Firepit at every site. I stayed here 5 weekends in a row while I was working on adjacent Ft McCoy and can’t wait to come back for pure R&R! I was very impressed with this campground. One note regarding proximity to the post - you will hear the post bugle calls and there are 8 a day. Also both small arms and large ordnance can be heard from the nearby ranges (note if you have PTSD issues). I consider those “the sounds of freedom”, and they didn’t lessen my wonderful experience. The rest of the time it is very quiet, with the occasional sounds of families having a great time!
