For Little Silver Lake Resort: Little Silver Lake Resort N5285 E. LITTLE SILVER LAKE RD WILD ROSE, WI 54984 920-622-530 http://www.redfoxwildrose.com/little-silver-lake-resort.html Beach and playground offer a wonderful location for quality family time. There are arbitrary and unenforced guidelines for weekday vs. weekend access. Beach pass is overpriced (at best). Rental for kayak and paddleboards is EXCESSIVE, i.e. $20 per hour! If the cost for hourly rental here were at half the present cost (e.g. $10 per hour with 2 hour minimum), then the rental charge would be reasonable. Red Fox bar / restaurant offers positive social contact for local residents, but menu & food service are mediocre. The cottages at Parker's Little Silver Lake @ $1375 to $1675 PER WEEK, are grossly OVERPRICED and overvalued. If cost of cottage (per week) were half of the present rental price, even then the cost to value would be negotiable per number of guests per night. The present administration of the Little Silver Lake would do well to harken back to the energetic atmosphere there of the 1960s to 1980s. The vibrancy of the resort offered the campsite residents, the cottage guests, and local communities of Wild Rose and Saxeville an unique atmosphere of fun and jukebox music. There was periodically also the attraction of live music, which made the adult bar even more noteworthy. Presently, there is the storage-administrative building for the Red Fox in what previously housed the teen game room and snack bar. In the heyday of Parker's resort (ca. 1960 - 1985), this was the teen gathering place. The music and social milieu maintained a healthy exchange among young adults that would rival the film American Graffiti. Joined by the adult bar in an L shape, the teen game room offered an enjoyable environment for all who had the privilege of the experience in that time. Originally, the teen game room and adult bar had the name of the Algonquin, therefore the nickname "The Al." The magic of the combined atmosphere cannot be understated. In the late 1980s, the bar (Silver Fox) had been torn down due to reported structurally unsound material. One wonders whether the only unsound element here was the logic of the new owners (legal proceedings?). No thinking person would dismantle such an ideal social and light-hearted environment for both adults and teens. There is now the isolated chimney and volleyball sand court where previously the bar stood. In the road leading past the Red Fox to the cottages, the potholes increased in dimension and hazard with each passing year since the 1950s. Rain transformed each of these craters into small ponds. As of summer 2022, the road has finally been rebuilt and now it is no longer a driving hazard. Skateboards run fine here as do local golf carts. Rather than focus on profit(s), the present owner would benefit by building on the quality and tradition inherited from the previous generation(s).
