For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: Permanently closed. Day use only now. Was one of my favourite places, so sad

Between the rumble

For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: Very nice BLM camping around a small lake or large pond. The access road is not well marked and is easy to miss. After a 3 1/2 mile drive down a well maintained but dirt road you will find a number of non-designated sites surrounding the lake. These sites will handle any size RV. The road around the lake is a bit narrow in places and very dusty. There are a lot of birds and their singing is load at times but very enjoyable. I believe this is a 14 day free BLM camping area but some there look like they my be past that. The water looks clean and at night you will enjoy watching the small bats flying around eating the bugs that are always around these types of ponds. Very quite and enjoyable stay. We would stay again. Now it's time to go wash the dust off the RV.

Larry Holman

For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: Surprisingly nice place but very crowded. All camping done around the little pond. Dirt/gravel road 3 1/2 miles but very smooth. Only a short distance to Yuma.

Niki54

For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: March 2018-In 2016, I came to visit the place and wasn't inviting.
Now 2018: Was worried to come with my 25' rig but there are few big rigs with trailers on these narrow roads.. Very quiet!!

Pup n G

For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: Not sure why the 25' limit is showing. My rig is a 31' class A and I'm seeing 40+ class As and fivers all around me. The only downside to the place is the crop dusters fumigating the crops that surround the pond.

Dave Davis

For Fortuna Pond BLM Area: We weren't able to get our MH back there. We had to stop and turn around. I recommend this for a 4WD vehicle and at most, a light trailer.
