For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: Great value, a weekend there cost less than it did to board the dogs at home. Portable toilets north of the main entrance were poorly maintained. Print out the QR code reservation before you go, trying to scan the code on my phone at the gate kept automatically sending it into the wallet app, thinking I was paying cash with Apple Pay.

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: 7-9 mins from downtown Chicago, big open lot park anywhere and it’s guarded 24/7 that is a nice feature. We towed our jeep with our Rv and we came and went a lot with no issues we just used our barcode . I did purchase our tickets online through the McCormick parking website. It was 38.00 a night. Would stay here again.

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: stayed for 5 days beginning of Aug. 2021. Used the McCormick place web site listed in another review to try to buy tickets. Wouldn't let me. On the purchase page after putting in credit card info the dial just spun and spun. Thought it was a connection or website issue. Tried to connect to their "technical support" number. Eventually it hung up on me. Evenutally called the parking lot and they said to come on in I could buy a ticket when I got there. It turned out I COULD get a ticket but I could NOT leave with out paying again! No in and out privileges. It turned out They had a pre-season bears home game that friday (I came in Monday) and they didn't really want a lot of RVs in the lot while they prepared/wanted to increase the rates for RVs to $85 for that day but NO ONE told you in advance, either on the phone or website, so as a traveler your stuck with so few options in the Chicago area. Also the McCormick center is closed because of covid but google and the lyft/divvy bike maps don't know that so they keep assuming you can get off the train and bus lines inside the massive complex and pass to the other side. You can't, unless kindly guards take pity on you and walk you through.

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: Great place to park- definitely nothing to it. Just an admittedly ugly lot with security in a decent location. I bought my reservation through the link here (truticket) and had major issues with proof of purchase. The guard was not surprised because apparently the site is terrible. He suggested buying directly from https://www.mccormickplace.com/getting-here/parking-rates/

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: On the positive side, you can stay in Chicago for $35 with close access to trains and Uber. On the negative side you are staying in a varied use parking lot between a railroad track and a commuter train track. No frills in the pot holed parking area. We felt fairly safe because the entrance was manned all night. Access to and from highway are easy to maneuver.

Big Big Trip

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: We decided to park at the McCormick Place Lot B for our Chicago stay. We made our on-line reservations and followed everyone's advice for getting into the lot no problem! It's very easy to get to and parked. However, the problem came at the entrance station when the gate attendant called his boss and charged us an extra $23 per day. Evidently, you are required to pay separately for your RV and your tow vehicle ? therefore instead of the $35 per day we already paid with our reservation, we ended up paying an additional $23 per day at the gate. That is a grand total of $58 per day to boondock in parking lot between an expressway and a busy set of railroad tracks.

Groggy and dazed from our drive into the city and not wanting to forfeit the $35 per day we already paid, I proffered my credit card to pay the difference. Once we got parked in our assigned spot and I had time to think through the gate interaction, I started to get angry. After talking to some other RVers in the lot (Class A motorhomes with toads who paid only the $35), I was pretty hot and decided to make a phone call and ask some questions. After getting the run-around from the guy on the phone, I went to the office to talk to the manager.

Interrupting five employees from sitting on their butts and thumbing their cell phones, I stated my case and wanted to know if there was a mistake? No, evidently there was not a mistake. Evidently, the policy is that a tow vehicle and trailer are counted as two separate vehicles and therefore require two charges. I mentioned that everyone we've ever talked to has only paid one fee for an RV (regardless of tow vehicle or toad). They responded that there must have been a mistake by the cashier at the gate. Some more back-and-forth with the Head Clown and I eventually gave up and I walked out unsatisfied and angry. We planned on adding days to the back-end of our reservation, but won't now we'll move to a county park a little further out and except the commute.

Everyone else has already discussed the positives of this location and they are all true. We had no problem finding a level spot to park and it is an easy walk to the Metra Station at McCormick Place. Although, while this is a wonderfully convenient place to stay during your visit to Chicago (two Metra stops to the Museum Campus stop and three to Millennium Park), I'm not sure the $58 per night cost is worth it. May be we were just super-unlucky. Maybe they changed their policy the day we arrived. Maybe we just got ripped off but this was our experience.

Bottom line: If you get the right cashier at the gate and they only charge the $35, then it's a great place to stay when visiting Chicago. But, if you don't get lucky and get the guys we had, then I'm not sure $58 per night is worth the convenience...

The Wrights

For McCormick Place Truck Marshalling Yard: My wife and I are travel nurses and uses McCormick Place after hearing about it from KYD. We stayed two nights (8/12/17 and 8/13/17). Price was $35 per night for a total of $70.00. Was the perfect place to boondock for two nights while we explored Chicago. We used 31st from I-90 to get in and didn't have any height issues. No excessive noise and we felt perfectly safe (24 hour security). You need to purchase your passes online and print them off to being with you. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Chicago with an RV.
