For Chase State Fishing Lake: Three stars does not tell the whole story of this place. Chase lake is primarily a state fishing area and camping is a secondary role. There are 10-12 camping sites along the side of the lake. Most have a fire ring and picnic table. There is no potable water so bring your own (available in Cottonwood Falls) but there are toilets. No firewood available on site or in town. There are no electric hook ups and trash is expected to be carried out. Sites are on the small side but there were a few larger RV campers. We stayed in our teardrop trailer dry camping which was fabulous. There is a small swimming beach. Very scenic location. Most spots have a small rock pier that juts out into the lake, very scenic spot for morning coffee if you are not fishing. Best fire fly display we have seen in our lives! We chose this location because it was closest to Tall Grass National Preserve which was a must see for us. Finally camping is FREE! Beautiful location we would not hesitate to stop in again.
