Subject: haunted farnsworth house

Because we booked late we had to stay in one room the first night, then another room the second...The first night we stayed in the Sara Black room, which they said is the most haunted..My boyfriend was really freaked out even before we went back to the room after dinner that evening.  The first thing that happened out of the ordinary was after dinner my boyfriend had left something up in the room, we walked out of the bar which was adjacent to the home, looked up at our room and the light that we had left on was off...I didn't think much of it, but he did.  That night when we retired, probably around 1 am or so, there were these footsteps above our room (the old attic was directly above us)  I remarked that it was probably the other guests exploring around.  The footsteps were very methodical and seemed to go on forever.  Now when I think about it, it freaks me out more than at the time.  The 'energy' in that room was very sad...I'm not sure what it is or why, but it was so creepy.  My boyfriend slept in his clothes and wouldn't move from the first position he had gotten into.  I'm a skeptic by nature, but that room seemed hostile, for whatever reason.

The next night we moved over into the Jennie Wade room.  Since nothing really out of the ordinary had happened in the Sara Black room, and because it was that room not the Jennie Wade room in which had the most 'paranormal' activity, I wasn't really worried about that night.  At one time my boyfriend and I got separated during the day (he's a roamer when I shop) I went back to the hotel to take a nap....didn't really notice anything.  That night my boyfriend and I went to bed...we were lying there talking and he asked me to rub his back.  As I was rubbing his back the light next to the bed tuned off.  We were both pretty freaked out, but I said that it may just be a short and turned the light back on.  About 10 or so minutes later the light went out again, and once again I turned it back on.  This went on for about 20 more minutes until he had had enough and told me just to keep the light off.  Now this is where I start to get freaked out.  As we were lying there I heard a weird noise.  I asked him if he heard it, he said no....I asked him again and told him to be quiet..He then told me he did and got up out of bed to investigate.  It turned out that the water had come on in the bathtub.  That was it for me...I was officially scared.  He turned it off and came back to bed...only to hear the water come on again just a few minutes later...only this time the water was running faster.  He put a towel under the facet so we could sleep.....to no avail, the water just kept running faster.  At this point I was affixed to lying on my back in bed staring at the ceiling.  I would have gotten up and ran down the street to the nearest hotel but I was afraid to move.  My boyfriend then decided to just keep the light on in the bathroom.  He got back into bed and then we heard this banging noise.  It was obvious to locate as it was the wooden outpaneling from the window.  It was banging like if someone were trying to get in from the outside, which would make more sense if we weren't on the upper floor, and the fact that nothing was there.....So now I'm feeling like whatever it was in that room, it did not want us there.  Everytime my boyfriend would get up and go the window the banging would stop, only to begin again when he got back to bed.  My boyfriend then told me it was my fault because at the very beginning I was teasing the 'spirits'...he told me that I did everything wrong.  (In the first room I tried on the pearls that belonged to one of the women that lived there in the 19th century,) and later had found an old piece of satin in the closet and took it with me to the second room.  The next morning my boyfriend went downstairs to put our luggage in the car.  I had gone into the little bathroom to get ready and inspected the bathroom window.  I raised the shade to let the morning sun in...then walked back into the bedroom.  When I walked back into the bathroom, the window shade had been pulled all the way to the ground.  Well, that was it for me, I ran out and didn't go back.

There was something else which I found really strange.  The farnsworth house used to use the upper attic as a room, but closed it off because they say the 'spirit' there seemed malevolent.  I went up to that attic probably 3 or 4 times, just for my own curiosity.  They use it now to store Civil War artifacts etc...When we were checking out I mentioned how they should keep it locked as there was stuff some people might take...The lady sorta looked at me strange and told me it was kept locked at all times.  Well, that's the story.....I'll certainly never forget that place, and neither will my poor boyfriend:-)

Subject: Don Cesar in Florida

hello, i stayed at the Don Cesar from April 1st to April 7th, and i also experienced some strange occurences.  First of all, i am a huge believer of ghosts and have heard from workers and managers in the hotel that they believe that the hotel is haunted.  For instnace, the 5th floor, which used to be used to hold morgues when the hotel was a hospital in the 40s, has a piano which strangely at about 11pm starts to play.  The workers cannot explain the reason this piano plays but just know that it does and it doesnt harm anyone.  When i went up tot he 5th floor, which is now a ballroom and huge parlor, i went down a very small elevator caleld the morgue elevator.  I asked a worker and they said that it sometimes got stuck.  Also i waso n the fourth floor and heard often children whipsperins late at night and the piano playing. email me if anyone else has weird experiences at the don cesar

Subject: Something ain't right in Goldfield, NV

I am a military warrant officer who seen many scary places, abroad and in the united states, and been in many frightening situations. Goldfield Nevada is the scariest feeling I I have ever had, hands down. Why? Because I couldn't control the feeling of sadness and fear I had around that Hotel, at night….it just overwhelmed me.

While in college, I worked as the night clerk in the renowned Mansion Hotel in San Francisco, California. It is purported to be ‘haunted', but the owner hyped it up and had a ‘magic show' and cheesy séance for the guests that was the subject of much joking. Yes, I had a weird feeling at night, alone just due to the solitude and quiet sereneness of the place, but never saw anything or had anything happen to me that I felt out of the ordinary. I would succumb to sleep before fear, and was eventually fired for falling asleep on the job!

I have always been skeptical of the reality of ghosts and haunted places...thought it was all hype and malarkey propagated by the media marketers and Fox TV. This changed when my family and I went through Goldfield after Easter Sunday on our way home from Las Vegas to central California and talked to the people (not about ghosts or the hotel, but about the decay of the town and purchasing old property perhaps as a 'labor of love' restoration project...the old schoolhouse recently sold for $8000.00...this place is enormous!). We stayed in nearby Tonapah and drove back by the place at night.(my daughter wanted to see it). As I pulled along side the southwest of the Hotel, I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness and uneasiness overwhelm me. All of us felt this, and we would not get out of the truck at night and walk around it..just tooscary. The town's people seemed a little distant and sad. Perhaps the place and people are depressed due to its severely sagging economy and geographic remoteness. Nothing was open for business, on a weekday, at 3:00 O'clock in the afternoon(!), save for the Chamber of Commerce. There were trinket shops on the west side of the hotel, with railroad spikes and hubcaps laying out front, signs reading “price reduced”…yet no one around to sell them…I could have just picked them up and walked away. Every shop in town was closed! The townspeople seemed a little hesitant in dealing with us at first. Maybe (and we are nice, friendly, respectful folks) because they have had just too many people (Californians!) milling around their beloved town after the airing of the television show, and it has become a nuisance to them, with people showing up, talking about how wonderful it is, then leaving and never adding to a place that is sadly crumbling into the history books with no one to save it (Shame on you Nevada government!). I don't know what it was, or how to explain it, but it was eerie and disconcerting. If they were upset at the crowds, it would be hard to see how, since most vehicles just drove on through the place, never taking a second look on their way to somewhere else. We certainly didn't see a mob of people, and the hotel even had 'Haunted Halloween Ghost Party call xxx xx xxxx, written on the front lobby windows. It was like this town has fallen under the influence of this depressed feeling that emanates from the Hotel...I am enamored with this place but frightened of it. Hardened skeptics like myself would be hard pressed to not be forced to alter their perceptions, after spending 10 minutes in that town. There was a lady living in a little home annexed to the hotel on the southwest side. That is one gutsy woman!

If anyone wants to see a truly haunted place, you simply have to go to Goldfield, NV

Subject: Hotel Riverview on Jane st.  in New York is haunted.

The Hotel Riverview in New York City is haunted.  You really should list it as a haunted hotel. I stayed in room 402 for six nights. The tv only had spanish stations. I felt myself being pulled slowly off the bed. The room grew horrendously hot even with windows open and chill air.  Upon returning minutes later it would be normal. Constant knockings at the door and no one is there. and more...

You may laugh at these things, however you must understand Hotel Riverview was where the survivors of the Titanic stayed after coming into shore from the the ship called the Carpathia.  It was erected in 1907 and the Titanic sank in 1912 giving it only a few years of peace.  (I did lots of research on the place after my stay.  Imagine my surprise when I realized 'I wasn't crazy' after reading the history.)

I've never been much of a believer in the paranormal, but after those six nights, I am 100% sure there is something else after death.  ONE HUNDRED PERCENT SURE.  It is an awful, sorrowful place and has never recovered since the tragedy.  I live in New York and stayed there in between moving because it was cheap.  I will never in my life stay there again.

I'm a normal guy, not a paranormal ghostbuster freak or anything.  A photographer and a computer programmer.  It sounds crazy I know, but I assure you, it is not a 'normal' hotel nor will anyone in the right rooms have a 'normal' stay.

Subject: Haunted Inn Jerome, AZ

The Ghost City Inn has a history of hauntings. The Cleopatra Hill Room has been reported as harboring a female ghost. She has been "seen" on three seperate occasions over the last year. Additionally, the upstairs has had an occasional male spirit reported by visitors.

The Ghost City Inn has served as a boarding house for over 100 years, although it also saw time as a funeral parlor and had a moonshine still operating during prohibition which blew up in 1931, almost destroying the place. (from the Chief of Police)

Subject: Haunted Goldfield Hotel

I am a Trucker who loves taking pictures of haunted buildings at night.  I heard the abandoned Goldfield Hotel had ghosts.  Inside was a man in a stetson standing in the fog while hearing music from the late 1800's.  Your website doesn't mention that.  I took a photo shortly after dusk.  I caught on film a beam of light coming out of the 1st or 2nd top floor window. I was heading south at that time.  It is unexplained, I had made sure that it could not be any kind of reflection coming from my vehicle.  If there was a place to park, I would.

Subject: Village Country Inn - Manchester VT

We believe that the Village Country Inn in ManchesterVT is haunted.  One night we were staying in a 2 room suite and during the night we heard the sound of things falling but figured it was just someone in the hallway.  The next morning I got up before my husband and when I walked into the sitting room the old books from a bookcase were all over the floor.  I questioned my husband about it and he said he had never touched the books.  As we were check out we askd the innkeeper about it and she said "Oh, what did Mrs, Worley do now?  She was the original owner of the house.  Another time, I got up very early and went down to the main sitting room to read a book without distrubing my husband,  I haad been reading about 20 minutes when suddenly the fire in the fireplace started to burn.  I just said "Thank you, Mrs. Worley" and continued reading and the fire continued to burn.

Subject: Gettysburg Ghost

When me and my mom went to Gettysburg for a weekend we just expected a ordinary town. We were looking up my great great grandfather George W. Ricker. he faught and lost his life at Gettysburg for the union army. He was with the 20th main. We stayed at the Farnsworth House Inn. We would never know it was haunted!!! I'm not sure what room we stayed in, it was about 2 years ago that we went. At night we heard foot steps in the hall and horses galloping outside. We also heard muskets firing in the middle of the night. It was about 3 in the morning that I woke up to hear foot steps in the hall. I opened the door and no one was there. A half hour later I heard foot steps out in the hall again. I looked through the peep hole only to see a man in a confederate suit walking down the hall with a musket in his hand. I wasn't sure if he was real or not!!! I saw orbs every single night I looked out the window of my room. They would be hovering around at a quick pace. I tried to take a picture but when it developed nothing was there but blackness. The next day we went to Devil's Den. My mom was taking a picture of a wierd looking rock. When she snapped the picture the camera went nuts. It was going on and off. It took all 24 pictures by itself. All the pictures except for one was black. The picture my mom toke had a hippy looking man in it. He had raggity long hair and ripped close on!

Subject: Seelbach Hotel, Louisville Ky

As a flight attendant, i stayed here many times it is definitely haunted, ...i think the story goes that a jealous lover strangles his fiancee.......when you stay there you can hear running footsteps in the hallway (it is carpeted)....the tv in unoccupied rooms come on blaring around 4AM and you get a chill as you wait for the elevator alone. I once awoke to someone choking me as i slept, this was before i knew of the stories and was very scared on my flight home.  It is also a beautiful hotel , but you can feel the atmosphere the moment you walk in.

Subject: The Hollywood Beach Resort

I have an excellent haunted location in Florida you will be happy to add. The hotel is titled: The Hollywood Beach Resort.  It began back in 1926 and in 1985 it became a landmark. The hotel was a favorite to famous mobster Al Capone, who still has family running the Flicker Light Restraunt one mile North of the hotel.

I was a security guard at this hotel for about two years. I experienced lots of strange sounds, temperature changes and scents. It does not end there. As I worked the night shift, tenants would contact me in the early morning hours about strange sounds and occurences in their rooms. Many people have died at this location over the years. The resort was once a hospital for WWII soldiers and lots of bodies were stored in room 202 after expiration. I recommend this hotel to anyone interested in ghosts. Some parts of the hotel still contain the old 1920 styles. The movie the Shining had many of the hallway clips filmed on the 2nd floor. I have had most experiences on the 7th floor, but many other people have had experiences on the 5th and 6th floor also. The hotel manager has had experiences in room 626 which was on TV last week. His name is Sean. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this haunted update.  I even wrote about it in my own ghost hunting book titled Hunting The Dead.

Subject: story about the Cresent

My father and his family lived in Claremore, Oklahoma. My father was 17 years old, and a few months after the birth of his sister he, his father, mother, and baby sister went on a road trip.  They stopped at the Crescent Hotel to stay the night, and they had heard stories about it, but paid no attention to them.  My father says he cant remember exactly which room they were in, but my grandmother swears it was 202.  Anyway, later into the night, around 1 am, my father woke up to someone talking, he sat up and looked around only to see that everyone was asleep.  A few seconds later the lamp on the bedside table turned on by itself, then he saw a shadow move across the room and stop next to a chair, the shadow then turned into a man wearing a white coat and he had a newspaper with him, the man proceeded to sit in the chair with the newspaper in his lap and stair at my father, who was speechless and didn't dare move a muscle.  The man then smiled at my father

Subject: Ben Lomond Raddison Hotel

I have heard stories about the Ben Lomond.  One is of a woman who killed herself by jumping out of the wondow of her room on the 13th floor.  She worked with my grandmother at a Walgreens down the street from the hotel.  She worked in the cosmetics departement, and from what people tell me is that you can smell her perfume, some sort of liliac perfume, when she is near.

Subject: Biltmore Hotel in Coconut Grove/Coral Gables, Florida

I would like to tell you about The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables/Coconut Grove, Florida.  Having grown up in South Florida I always heard stories about the hotel (one was about a baby cemetery located somewhere on the property).

Well some of the stories have to do with the gangster Al Capone having parties on the top floors and some people being killed at one of his parties and about some lady jumping from the balcony on the top floor.

There are catacombs underneath the hotel.  I was told about this by my best friend and she found out from her husband who works for one of the subcontractors for the local cable company.  He found out about the catacombs because when the hotel was being worked on for its grand reopening the company that he works for did dome work in the catacombs.  One of the few time they had to use the elevators they pressed the button for one floor and some how ended up on another floor and there was absolutely no one working on that floor.  They were also told that the maids didn't want to work on that particular floor because there was a ghostly marching band that would go through that floor from time to time.

Subject: ghost at Thayer Inn

In 1996 a friend and I went to stay at the Thayer Inn, in Annandale MN.  After dinner at a restaurant by the lake, we returned for a nightcap in the bar at the Thayer. The owner was tending bar and talking with us about her gourmet breakfast for the following morning.

My friend suddenly asked where the "man who played the jukebox" went.  The jukebox wasn't playing.  The owner questioned my friend about the man's clothing. My friend responded that the man was wearing a blue shirt and dark pants.  The owner responded that my friend had seen a ghost. My friend was shocked because nothing about the man was suspicious, except for the fact that although the bar is very small (4 bar stools) no one heard him come in or leave.

The owner stated that the ghost had been seen before pondering over the jukebox (trying to figure out this "new-fangled" machine).  She felt he was one of the railroad workers that had stayed at the hotel while he worked on the depot across the street.
