I’ve camped here several times about a half mile south of the interstate. Never had any problem. No trash. If I did see any trash, I’d pick it up and dispose of it properly. There are areas to camp just off the freeway, but I went a bit south to have a little peace and quiet. Don’t need the freeway noise. There are signs posted about smuggling route, but I’ve camped in similar areas and it’s fine. Paradise? No, but it’s free and a pleasant place to camp.

Stayed one night-no one else camped nearby. No trash where I stayed close to the highway. Very little local traffic.

This area is close to highway so you can hear noise. There is always the option to drive farther in but there is so much garbage you might not want to. We felt perfectly safe for one night stop on our way to Tucson and the southeastern corner of the state. Just a lot of trash. We were alone all night.
