Stayed one night mid October 2018. It is about 1/2 a mile north of where map shows it, north of inlet/beach. There are signs in the two gravel areas saying no parking-trespassing but a few vehicles stayed overnight. I talked to someone who told me she talked to local law enforcement who told her it is ok to stay one night. We stayed in the northernmost paved lot.

Very pretty spot along PCH, perfect place to stop for the day. I got VERY spotty signal from ATT... I could get signal if I was standing at a certain point along the road and could carry it back to my van parked right along the cliff. As long as I didn't move it around too much, I could usually keep a bar of signal- enough to do a phone call, but not FaceTime. Had no issues other than that, it was just me parked there. The sound of occasional traffic would come by, but nothing too bad.

We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive. We're self contained and don't need facilities. We stayed here on a weeknight in early September in our 25 foot MH.
This is a gorgeous free camping spot right on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. It's essentially 2 dirt parking lots connected by a rough dirt path. You can enter from the north or south entrance, skipping the dirt path in between. There were 8 other RVs and 2 tents parked along the edge of the bluff in the evening and we woke to 2 more in the morning. There are no services. There was only 1 picnic table at the far north end of the lot. The space was reasonably clean. It's right on Highway 1 which heavily traveled during the day, less so during the night. The sound of the surf competes with any traffic noise. There's good Verizon and usable ATT coverage. Great views!
This spot is 10 miles from Fort Bragg and 20 miles from Mendocino.
