What a disappointment. Had a nice afternoon in Sedona then drove around to HWY17 drove up & the gate was closed, with several other campers standing around scratching their heads. There was no mention anywhere we had looked earlier of the gate being closed from the 17 side. Ended up the road 2 exits after Willard which was also closed because a Nice guy said they opened the gate at Kelly Canyon Rd for the pit shooting range.Luckily there was no gun fire. Lots of dispersed camp sites & some road noise so good for one night. Couldnt imagine staying if there was a lot of gun fire. So happy we found a place on a Friday night but disappointed to have missed out on the views.

Our favorite dry camping spot around. Beautiful area, trails, quad riding. Only thing it is missing is a river or lake.

This is a great dry camping area. Beautiful warm days and cool nights. Labor Day camp out was perfect
