Tom Sawyer's RV Park

Loved overlooking the Mississippi River and watching the barges navigate the river. Complimentary laundry facilities. But if you need a bathhouse, prepare to rough it.

The views of the Mississippi River are spectacular. There is an area with benches along the river. Full Hookup, clean and very good to spend a night or two. There is a section of the road before the campground that is very dusty but its not their fault as there are several companies in the area. I am driving a Class A 36' and towing a jeep

Beautiful view of the Mississipi River. Check in was great. All we needed to do was to pick up an envelope at the entrance. Signage was good. Site was easy to find. One can choose between concrete sites or gravel, but the concrete sites are next to the gravel, just decide how much you want to pay. Full hookup. There is a section of the road before the campground that is not paved and the towed vehicle got dusty. Other than that the place is great.

The campgrounds look abandoned (other than a number of full timers). It was creepy, unkept, and the manager was a rude “piece of work.” We arrived 30 minutes before the office closed and do what you always do first; check the electricity and water. Water was fine but the electricity had reversed polarity (as indicated by our surge protector). We called to see if there was anything that could be done and were immediately made to feel like it was our fault and that we were unwelcome. We were shocked at this initial response. The maintenance manager (husband of the manager?) showed up and confirmed there was an issue. The reverse polarity had fried the 50amp circuit breaker to the point where it would burn you to the touch. While he was troubleshooting I checked two other sites, hoping we could just move to a new site… all of them had the same problem. As I returned to my site, here comes the manager in her side by side yelling something in such an accent and such rapid fire that no one could understand her. She was yelling at me AND the maintenance manager at the top of her lungs. We finally figured out what she was saying.. “I add ten minutes! I add ten minutes!!” What was she talking about? She would have to add ten minutes to her timesheet for staying late to help deal with this problem. The whole time the maintenance manger was mouthing “I’m so sorry” to me behind her back (I guess this is normal behavior for her). Luckily he fixed the issue, we shared a beer and he confided in me how she treats customers and her employees. We stayed one night and got out of there. NEVER going back.

We have stayed here numerous times. Stayed one night April 7, 2026. Always a good stay. We were in the second row from the river. We had a great view of the river and the barge traffic. Site was level, clean. A quiet park. Easy to access from I 55. We will stay here again.

Great spot on river, will stay there again. Pretty much as others have said.

45’MH&Tow Stayed in north section on a river front site 75 watching river barges through my windshield, Fantastic, bath house in this older section was a 1star but is usable. We had high voltage 129V indicated on 1 leg if we drew more than 15 amps but our surge protector never tripped. Easy to get in/out level gravel sites lots of areas to walk dogs and enjoy the river traffic. Easy access across the river to Memphis down town. I will stay again.

Beware of no refund policy, which is true even though the electric was bad and we had to use our generator. Free laundry, free Wi-Fi that works, a free pen/light/stylus and a riverfront view with full hooks. Easy in and out, as well, but no way was it worth $60 with their bad electric. They had three guys working on the electric the day we left, but their no-name work van and constant phone use did not inspire confidence.

We liked Tom Sawyer rv park. Our site 97 was level and offered us the opportunity to watch boat traffic on the Mississippi River. Staff was friendly and park well maintained. I think there were some long term campers but we’re in a separate area. Good Wi-Fi

I’m in a 24’ Class C & not towing. Thus I was able to be in site #76 which is RIGHT on the Mississippi River. The barges & tugs were 20 steps away. It was a magical stay - a tree for shade, a picnic table to myself, peace & quiet after time on the busy & fast interstate. The bathrooms in this part of the park are elevated (5 steps) & have a sink, stool & shower. Waking up at 2am to a tug heading south & lite up like a Christmas ornament was icing on the cake for this overnight. I’ll be back!
