For Lake Poinsett State Park: Well-maintained, small State Park. Office staff was friendly and helpful. Sites vary in size. Ours was wide enough to park our toad beside the motorhome. Level gravel sites with fire pit, picnic table and food/trash hanger. We didn’t use bath house. Several trash cans and recycling bins were located throughout the area. Walking trails were nearby. Lake was beautiful but looked small. There is a fishing dock and boat ramp nearby. Park is about 3.5 miles from Harrisburg. Not much there for shopping except a Dollar General Market. We travel in a 42’ Class A with toad.

For Lake Poinsett State Park: We spent Memorial Day weekend here in 2020 and had a great time! Everything is clean and well maintained, and the Park Rangers were very nice. We enjoyed the hiking trails. The playgrounds were well kept. There were several porch swings that allow you to sit and enjoy nature. I can't report on restrooms and showers because they were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but they were modern. The RV spots are generally easy to get into except #15 and #16. They would be manageable for someone with good backing skills. No pull through sites available. There is a nice loop at the end that allows an easy turnaround for the one way in and out campsites. Sites are a bit close for my liking but no closer than any other State Park. Each site is reasonably level with plenty of room, a picnic table, fire ring, grill and lantern pole available at each site. The tent camping sites were nearby and looked great as well. We used a 30amp site but the electric box had an additional 15 amp receptacle available. The park was not overly busy and the RV sites were quiet. I gave the park 5 stars even though the lake itself has been drained for a few years to make repairs and improvements. The Ranger was sure to mention the drained lake to us when my wife was making the reservation. We were told that the lake should be back to full level by June of 2021. Looking forward to visiting again.

For Lake Poinsett State Park: Great little park with very friendly park rangers. Park is very clean. Very quaint we went in February because we were traveling in the area, would love to see in the summer! Lake was being repaired and was drained. Couple of short hiking trails. Would be a great place to stay with kids.

For Lake Poinsett State Park: Really nice campground. Plenty of woods for the kiddos to wander through. The restrooms/showers are very clean. The only bad part of our stay was caused by the drought, the lake was pretty dry. Great place though. We'll definitely be returning.
