For Lost Dutchman State Park: Lucked out with a First come first serve site. #46. Large pull through with electric and water. Level site. Love the views. Plenty of privacy between sites. Staff friendly and helpful. Only stayed one night on our way through the area.

For Lost Dutchman State Park: Hard to rate anything less than 5 stars. Site 94, water and electric, concrete , full sun. Hummingbirds, gila woodpeckers, coyotes yipping in the night. Leave a strobe light on in your engine bay to repel packrats. Great trails, well maintained . Stayed March of 2021

For Lost Dutchman State Park: While park is great I encountered 3 separate employees that were just rude. I was only there for 1 night so consider that. I’ve been to many other parks and none were ever rude like these people. Don’t care if this is busy park, step up your employee performance!! Sadly, I will not be back, ever!!

For Lost Dutchman State Park: I posted a review here a while back when we were full timers. This is our second visit to this area. First, the park is stunning, with great views of the Superstition Mountains to the east. This is also in the Sonoran Desert, with lots of cactus, Pablo Verde and other plants. It is a green desert, and pretty in the winter time. We were here in January, 2022 for this visit in site #4 in the original loop of the campground in a 35 foot fifth wheel. Our last stay was in this loop in the next site down. Both sites were unlevel and we had to be careful how to park our truck. This loop has no hookups, so dry camping. There is a decent dump station on the way in/out with water. There are nice bathrooms we did not use. Cell signal is ok, but not strong as this area is on the outskirts of town. Camp sites are raked and kept immaculately clean. I would expect the same for the bathrooms. Regarding this loop for sites 1-15, be aware they could be unlevel—Like over four inches from side to side. Newer loops probably don’t have this problem. We have Anderson chocks to help and it makes all the difference. Lots of great hiking and biking, close to the amenities of the city. What I like here is that the sites (except for one of the loops) are well spaced and private. Saguaro cactus, cotton tails, birds, and chipmunks abound. Ride a bike, take a hike and enjoy the blue skies. This is one of the ultimate Arizona State Parks. Plan in advance and make a reservation. You will not regret it, we will come back again and we will pick a site with hookups on the south side next time. Other reviews mention difficult staffers. I would expect this to happen from time to time as this is a VERY BUSY PARK that is hard to get reservations for—meaning they have a lot of rules to enforce. If you plan to have visitors I recommend they follow day use regulations and plan on those hours. Or pay a second vehicle fee and park the vehicle in your space - assuming it can fit. This is a busy place, for sure. Regardless, it is inspiring.

For Lost Dutchman State Park: This is the second year that we have come to Lost Dutchman, while visiting our adult daughter who lives in Phoenix. During the COVID restrictions, no campground visitors were allowed. During our stay, this restriction was lifted, and so we invited our daughter and her boyfriend to join us for dinner one evening. When they arrived, they were met by a surly woman, who with some kind of attitude told them there could only be no more than two cars and 10 people at a campsite ( there were two of them in one car) and that they had to be gone by 8 pm. When my daughter arrived, she was upset and told us she was sorry she had come. So much for having a quiet dinner, campfire, and sunset with the old folks. I don’t know who it was , but if they are tired or don’t like their job, they should go home or look for another job. We will not be back. By the way, Usery Mountain Regional Park is nearby, beautiful, and has nice friendly staff members.

For Lost Dutchman State Park: The campground is very nice, sites are level and spaced ok. Restrooms clean. Staff was very friendly. The hike up Siphon Draw was nice we stopped part way and watched the people coming down...cell service was spotty for us.

For Lost Dutchman State Park: Lost Dutchman State Park is an Arizona state park butted up next to the Superstition Mountains about 40 miles from Phoenix. It is named in honor of a legendary goldminer who found a gold mine in the Superstitions that to this day has not been rediscovered. The campground is gorgeous surrounded by cacti and other desert vegetation. There are plenty of walking/hiking trails. For campers who need them, there are plenty of tourist traps a couple of miles away, the most prominent being a replica of an old mining town. The campsites enjoy ample space between each other and all have outstanding views of the Superstitions. Except for a few, the campsites offer water and electricity but share a dump station near the entrance. The park rangers are very courteous, and they offer tour programs for their guests. Lost Dutchman is a great place for those who enjoy wonderful scenery and space to roam.
