For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: Very nice campground. Great location. You can walk to canyon for beautiful sunrise and sunset. Some sites easy to pull through or back into. But be careful when reserving. We have a 30’ travel trailer. Our site shown as a pull through. Barely made it out without damaging truck or camper. Check your site selection to see if you fit. Lots of no shows for sites even though the park said it was full. Camp host was a very big help. .

For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: I took one star away because the rules for group size are not enforced, and I was next to a big college athletes group who were incredibly loud. But who spends much time in a campground at the Grand Canyon? I pity the folks who camp in Mather (which I have done), because this place is much better. There is a trail leading off the campground loop that lets you find the be of many good laces to dangle your legs off the edge of the Canyon and just look— no crowds, no cars, none of the general madness that describes the Grand Canyon South Rim. I’m so old that I’ll never be back, and I’m grateful I saw it from this end of the Park. The campground itself is closely packed, with picnic tables and fire rings. The restroom is much used, but clean considering. Easy access to supplies and gasoline.

For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: Awesome! Stayed 2 nights in late July in a 25' RV. Ranger Bill, the host, VERY helpful, great recommendations for secluded South Rum hikes and views. Gas station and General Store just a short walk.
Highly recommend this campground!

For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: Stayed 1 night in April 2017. Beautiful sites that are private and quiet. No hookups but restrooms are clean and convenient. Wonderful star viewing at night. Price is well worth it.

For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: I thought I was unlucky when the couple in front of me literally got the last spot in Mather, but it was just the opposite. When I come to the south rim of the Canyon again this is the only place I'll stay. Quiet and beautiful scenery. There is a 40' limit for RVs. Mine is 20' and fit great. Sites are good for tents, too.

For Desert View Campground South - Grand Canyon National Park: Nice campsite without hook ups. More geared to small pop-up sized trailers and tent campers. Is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main south rim are to actually make you feel like you are in the wilderness. We had a beautiful elk lazily stroll brought the campground in the evening and pose for photos too! The spots are all paved and you can pay by credit card at the kiosk next to the host. Restrooms were flush and clean, but there are no showers. The views from this end of the south rim are much better as well. Take your time and enjoy. We wish that we could have spent more than just one night!
