For Catalina State Park: Great park if you stay in A or B loop only. Ringtail is a dirt parking lot with zero privacy and may as well be a KOA. Great bathrooms however. I should have done my research before booking a site here for $20 to park right beside everyone else, so that’s on me. Great lesson learned! Only stay in Ringtail area of the campground if you enjoy being around everyone.

Val

For Catalina State Park: If you want to live in a parking lot then Ringtail campground is for you. You are 150ft from public events, you can inhale exhaust from the big RV generators and you can be crammed in like sardines. The only star is for the bathrooms which are nice. Staff are lovely. We booked 4 months in advance thinking that the Ringtail campground was an actual campground. So choose A or B campgrounds but don’t book Ringtail. We booked for 2 weeks 4 months ago and were so disappointed when saw where we would have to camp. We stayed 4 nights, two of which were invaded by hundreds of people using the bathrooms for their all day Sat and Sunday events in the group picnic area next to Ringtail. At 20.00 a night for parkibg lot experience, I give one star.

For Catalina State Park: Awesome Sate Park. Clean and QUIET with great hiking trails. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Spacious and level asphalt sites with phenomenal restroom facilities. Very convenient to shopping (Walmart) for supplies if needed. Higly recommend this park for all.

For Catalina State Park: My one WARNING in an other wise very favorable review.... Beware of burrs. After our first walk and finding burrs inside our rig, we checked our socks and pants legs for burrs, and took our shoes off outside then thoroughly checked them top to bottom. OK, that's done. We really enjoy this park and it's great views of the Catalinas. Large, level sires in a desert environment, so not much in the way of trees (it's not the Catalina Forest😎) Great hiking and even horseback riding available. If you are interested in local theater and music, the Gaslight Music Hall is just outside the park. Plus some great opportunities for dining out, in the mall across from the park entrance. And the first Saturday music in the park is an added bonus.

Happy Travels

For Catalina State Park: This is a very nice state park. We were there in mid-May and so many of the cacti were in bloom. We did not use the public facilities so no opinion there. We enjoyed the spacious sites and watching the prairie dogs all over the place! The park workers in the office were very nice and helpful! It’s very convenient to shopping and whatever else you might want to do in Tucson.

For Catalina State Park: Great State Park. This is our 2nd stay here. Pretty large sites. Seemed more " groomed " last year. Our site had a bunch of cigarette butts in the grill, pretty gross. I did clean them out. mostly just dirt in the area around the picnic table... We were lucky enough to be in AZ this year during the " superbloom" ! We hiked different trails each day enjoying many different flowers. We enjoyed live music in the park on Saturday night of our stay. Located off of very busy N. Oracle road. Lots of Big Box stores in the area. Did not use park facilities. Beautiful view of the Santa Catalina Mountains from our site.
