Sept 2019: A very nicely maintained and pleasant park with clean restrooms, large green lawns and shade trees. Extremely busy and crowded. Truck or large RV parking spaces are very limited. Lots of auto parking spaces but they are in high demand. This “rest area” is officially designated (per the State’s brochure and detailed map for this park) as the “Overflow Parking” area for the adjacent Oregon “Valley of the Rogue State Park” campground. The parking area is also designated as a “rest area” because it is outside the park’s developed campground. The RV dump station can only be accessed by going 1/2-mile past the campground check-in station into the campground itself. Although there is also a “day use” area identified beyond the check-in station, and this State Park is not officially identified as one for which a Day Use Fee is currently charged, a park ranger may ask that you pay the “extra vehicle” fee to enter the campground area in order to use the dump station. You also may be given a rather strong “suggestion” or “reminder” that you pay the voluntary donation that’s usually requested at many Oregon State Park dump stations.
