For Auburn Gold Country RV Park: I won't bore you with details, but when we first pulled in I was ready to forfeit my prepaid-non-refundable payment to get out. Wait! it does get better because we ended up staying 6 weeks and we're glad we did (see! a happy ending)! And, we later saw our first impressions played out time and again when new people arrived (hmmm, something makes everyone cranky when they arrive here). But as one camper told us on our first day, so we also said to the newcomers - give it a day or two, check out the park, the amenities, the surrounding area, and meet the staff, etc., then form an opinion. IMO: that's the key to a happy stay at this park. The park is clean, well kept, well managed, nicely landscaped, with a great pool, spa, laundry and store. What drives the negative impressions are the lot sizes and the price. I have a 40 ft. class A (ding) and I paid double what I'm accustomed to paying (ding, ding) so I fell right into the muck. This is an old KOA park, built when most rigs were under 30 ft. Looks like the management tried to open things up, but are limited by the confines of the property - award an "A" for effort!. After backing in, which wasn't so bad afterall, my next scary thought was living with my car parked just outside our door; the site wasn't long enough to park end to end, so there would be no "outdoor" living space for us. But then we learned there is overflow parking nearby and problem solved. Then there is the noise (the park is adjacent to the airport), but these are small planes and I got to see some really neat WWII vintage flyers up close on Saturdays - see another happy ending!! Also, the park has a lot of permanents, but they're the best permanents I've seen - nice, friendly, and well kept spaces. Let's face it, this is the best (if not only) park in the Auburn area and the owners know it so they charge high rates - this is my only legitimate gripe and I told them so. We have friends in the area so when we come I'll look again for less expensive alternatives (again), probably won't find any (again), so we'll come back to this park. Money aside, this is a great park that offers up a nice stay.

I've read some reviews complaining about the manager but here's my take on this: When I first met the manager I was still in a rage about what I paid for my small space but I decided not to take it out on him. Guess what? He's a nice guy and great to talk to. So, don't walk up in a rage and expect to walk away with good sentiments. If you're unhappy about the rates, call the owners, don't take it out on the local staff - they just work there.

Shopping nearby is excellent - everything you'd want (Target has the cheapest groceries); Home Depot is right down the road, and there is a great hardware/plumbing store closeby. Stable electric, good water pressure, great wifi (recently upgraded), nice shade from nearby trees. We stayed 6 weeks in a Standard back-in site with a 40 ft class A with toad. 4 of 5 stars - one missing due to the costs.

For Auburn Gold Country RV Park: Quiet, clean, well-maintained park. Close to shopping/amenities. Definitely recommend. We stayed a week in our 30 ft. Class A, in a premium site.
