For Panther Flat Campground: This is a beautiful National Forest Service campground. It is completely surrounded by and filled with trees. There is ample space between each campsite. There is a restroom/bathhouse on-site that seemed reasonably clean. There is a camp host if there are any issues. The nightly rate is $15 ($7.50 with Senior/Access Pass). The town of Gasquet is about 10-15 minutes away, but it only has a small general store. The nearest sizeable town is Crescent City, about 30-40 minutes away. The sites are asphalt with a picnic table and a fire ring. The roads going through the campground are on the narrow side, but we were able to get our 35’ fifth wheel into a camp site with little difficulty. A really large motorhome might have difficulty. There are no hookups. This is all dry camping. There are water fill stations (unthreaded spigots) in the campground for filling up jugs. There is a little AT&T reception in the campground. At times, I could barely get a text message out, and then later, I could stream Netflix. You can hear the rushing of the Smith River from the campsites, and you can also hear some traffic noise from the 199 as well. The Smith River runs along the edge of the campground. We loved it here, and will definitely return to Panther Flat.

For Panther Flat Campground: This is a gem. Close to Jeremih Smith Redwood area for day trips, to Crescent City for shopping etc. There are 12 first come sites and the rest reservable. Clean FLUSH toilets, nice pay showers. Lots of large sites with picnic tables and fire pits. It's on the Middle Fork of the Smith River which is beautiful and I hear has good fishing. There are hikes for dogs. Lots of sun available in some sites. Small fee with golden age benefits makes this perfect . No hookups which we don't care about but that's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. We camped in a 25 ft 5th wheel!
