For Big Bend Campground: This is a nice shaded campground next to a cute little river. I stayed here because campgrounds in Mammoth were completely full! It is about 20ish minutes from Mammoth only 5miles from a town called Lee Vining. I didn’t make reservations but was able to find a site. It has a camp host, vaulted toilets, fire ring, bear box, picnic table and water spouts. I felt safe there as a single female in my 60s camping in my car. It was quiet at night. I would’ve given this 5 stars but took a star off for the dust! It was everywhere. My site was dusty and when people drive on the road, they stir up dust. But my site was near the road. Others are not. I went to see Bodie Ghost Town and Mono Lake. Bodie is a must see. It’s about 30ish miles from the campground and road there is windy and mostly paved. Last three miles were in a very bumpy dirt road. Why they don’t pave the last 3 miles is beyond me. Had a great time there and felt very safe at campsite.
