For Morro Bay State Park: We have stayed here twice and have a third trip planned. Choose your site carefully and reserve it as soon as you can. The sites we have chosen have offered some separation and openness, but others are just on a row with little space.

It's the only state park I've been to where someone has stolen our firewood, but I cannot blame the park for that. It's been clean and comfortable, and well-maintained when we have been here. With the ability to launch our kayaks a short distance away, and explore the dunes and wetlands on the water, it's hard to find fault. We have seen everything from seals to eagles. The park has a nice interpretative center was well. Then there is always the town, the Rock, the otters, and a few nice hikes in the area.

For Morro Bay State Park: The sites are close together with little or no privacy. My door opened out to the neighbors fire pit with his two barking dogs. Bathrooms are dismal. Showers closest to our site were closed reputedly because staff did not want to clean them. Couldn't wait to leave and will not return. I have never given a bad review before.

For Morro Bay State Park: Morro Bay is a great little town and well worth a stop. The park is quite lovely. The campground was very crowded without much of privacy between spaces. I expect gov't campgrounds to feel more spacious. However, it was serviceable and well maintained with plenty of facilities. The great location is a real plus.
