Shadow Cruising

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: We stayed at Costanoa KOA Friday-Sunday in the Coast Village loop, site C45. It was FHU, basic cable and minor leveling needed. The free WiFi was garbage. I got better service with 1 bar of AT&T. The site was clean, had a wood fire pit and a deck to the rear for hammocks, chairs or whatever. The foliage between the sites is beautiful in the Coast Village loop. The Pine-Tent bar and grill was great. Loved the live music on Saturday night, the food was good, staff was friendly and the cocktails were reasonably priced. Just a good relaxing vibe. The kids activities were pricey but so worth it! My little one loved making a tie dye shirt ($30) and walking stick ($30). If you bring your own white 100% cotton shirt, it’s only $15 but it won’t say Costanoa on the front. The staff were super helpful, patient and friendly. On Sunday morning, the campground hosted a free Falconing Event and a local professional brought his trained hawk, giving an excellent presentation for the kids and adults. The hike to the beach is fun and rewarding once you get there. It’s definitely not a swimming beach, but it’s nice to watch. The only downside is having to cross a very active Hwy 1 with kids and no crosswalk. This is a relaxing, family friendly, pet friendly KOA. The General Store on the property has a lot of dry goods, some wine and grocery items and a lot of nicknack things you probably do not need. The Cascade Restaurant is also onsite. We went on Sunday morning for breakfast. They said it’d be a 15 minute wait when we walked up. Fifty five minutes later, they said our table was ready. We saw an older couple walking out and they said that they had been waiting 20 minutes at the table for service and no one ever came, so they were leaving. So rather than subject my family to another large waste of time with a lack of service, we left too. The employees clearly didn’t care. I would NEVER recommend the Cascade Restaurant for Sunday breakfast unless you have a few hours to kill. We ended up just getting coffee and breakfast burritos at Pine-Tent with only a 7 minute wait and they were very good. We will definitely come back.

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: We stayed at Costanoa KOA 03/11/22- 03/13/22 in back-in site C43 with our 28 ft TT. All RV sites are FHU w/ cable. WiFi is available but it’s not quick or reliable. The back-in sites are more spacious than the pull-thru sites. The staff are very friendly and roam around frequently checking the property. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and very family friendly. The rules are plentiful and the fees are everywhere. Propane is available at $4.99 per gallon. There is a spa on-site as well. The Pine Tent casual dining spot is in the center of the campground with a full bar, locals on tap and live music. The Rec Center is also in the center of the campground with plenty of kids activities. There is a nice farm-to-table restaurant at the entrance and a small store. The off-leash dog park is nice with grass for the pooches. During the day there is a buzz of activity with kids and families, but at night it quiets down nicely with everyone respecting the quiet hours. We really enjoyed our laid back stay at the Costanoa KOA and now understand why reservations are months out.you get what you pay for and this KOA is very good.

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: Way over priced, but we’ve always gone here because it’s right on the coast. They screwed up our reservations and couldn’t do anything for us. On top of that, charged us $10 cancellation fee because of their mistake. Never going back.

Bob

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: Friendly Staff - nice resort - clean- lots of fun things to do for kids - back in sites are very close together and restaurant is way too expensive! Those last two are the downside and hope they can fix them.

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: Expensive but nice campground. Low rating due to tick infestation. We kept our dogs off the grass after reading about the ticks here but they still got them. Check for ticks at least twice a day and treat your dogs before coming here. Don’t know what they could do to get rid of them. Little store in Pescadero is fun.

Johnson

For KOA Santa Cruz North Costanoa: Overall good experience. Very friendly staff. Level pull through site, working accessible hookups. Restaurant onsite which is good because you've got to travel 15-20 mi for shopping. Lots of outdoor activities including mt bikes and trails, horseback riding. Terrible wifi and barely any cellular service. You are isolated. Would return for an extended stay however it is expensive.
