For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: Good WiFi Good size sites We are in a full hookup site #97 No shade Not real level- but paved. The sites could use a little TLC Some have more shade. Check Google Maps when selecting your campsite. Nice on-site store and cafe. Close to Solvang and many wineries.

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: We had a full hookup site #150; chose this as we wanted a more camping feel spot than in the "RV" section. Most other spots in this area were partial hookups. They also have less than 10 partial hookup pull through sites in this area. Our site was large, the site next to us, was much narrower. Our site was right next to the playground and comfort station. There were three areas of the fence to enter the area, one near the roadway, one in the middle and one in the corner at the intersection of fencing that delineated the back and side of our site. Yep people cut through our site to go to the comfort station sad to say. Other than that we liked our site. We were in a travel trailer, site was long enough for 30' trailer & truck. We had full bars for ATT but the data didn't work well, but text and e-mail worked.

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: Stayed in a Prime site with a beautiful view of the the Lake. The sunset view was outstanding- less outstanding was the fact that other campers also thought the same...and felt it was ok to traipse through our site to take photos. One man even asked to sit at our picnic table to take a selfie. Seriously? We were also woken up to a man and his two kids wandering through at 7 am. What's wrong with people? We paid a premium of $47 for the privilege of that view. Why can't people respect others?

Also was a bit shocked that a Lake that doesn't allow swimming due to possible contamination allows gas-powered boats. And that kayaks are allowed but not paddleboards. How do they think kayaks are launched? A beautiful place, but we won't be back.

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: January 2016: Beautiful spot with large sites and easy access. Stayed in the RV area of the park with full hook-ups. Rode bicycles all around on mostly flat roads through the park which is quite large. The lake is at 18% capacity so it's a trek down but still quite beautiful. The tent camping area is completely empty and had the place to ourselves. The laundry facilities are a no-go but there's laundry in Boulleton next to an Albertsons $$$$. Camp sites are in the $45/night range but well worth the quiet and surroundings. Once the lake fills up and summer arrives it could be a lot more crowded.

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Lots of activities. Scenic views. Gas station and store on site were convenient. Laundromat definitely needs improvement but they do have two tiny but working washing machines. (Closes at 5pm) bathrooms had no hooks, no mirrors, no shower curtain or shower doors for privacy but we're at least clean. Need 2 quarters for every 3 minutes of shower time.

Dirtrider1974

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: We stayed here in a 34 foot class A and found our first to have very low hanging tree branches. When we asked the Rangers if they could trim the tree so we could fit into our reserved site they said NO. They did let us switch sites but we were lucky the park was not busy. The grounds are nice and the spots are HUGE. No play ground or pool was open for us but the nature center is OUTSTANDING!! We rented a boat and took a ride across the lake. We enjoyed our stay and found the other campers to be a mix of long term and weekenders.

Will go back sometime.

For Cachuma Lake Recreation Area: Nice, clean campground and great fishing-only lake ( no swimming). Pool, playgrounds, nature center with ranger-led activities for kids. No reservations, but lots of sites and plenty of dry camping overflow.
