For Merrill Campground: There are technically 6 loops with an interesting system, each loop has an area that is first come, first serve (FCFS) with many reservable sites also if you find a CG map (walk-in sites are not real walk-in sites but are FCFS) starting at the lake all sites DO NOT have amenities as water/power/sewer though there is water at faucets around the loop. The next section up from the lake have power and water, while the last area closest to the entrance are full service W/E/S. Some sites are more level than others, whole some sites looked pretty steep. We were in handicap#12 but it was very steep for an accessible site choose a different one, then we went to the primitive loop with open sky for our solar panels, it was nice down there but watch for ticks and prairie dogs if you have kids or pets (they carry disease like the plague) Cell service is better near the lake with 2-4 bars 4G on both ATT and Verizon. Campground hosts sell firewood for $5 per bundle (5-6 pieces), there is a dump across the road which there is a fee of $8 or $4 for pass holders. There is a decent bike trail (watch for roots) that can be taken to the other CG’s and the store/boat launch and rental boats. The store is very well stocked with food, drinks and fishing gear and tackle. There are showers/propane/fuel there also. Small 14’ boats can be rented from sun up till noon (after noon the winds pick up and it is too dangerous for the smaller crafts), they also rent party boats. You can’t fish from the shore anywhere near this campground, there are some fishing spits near the marina but if you don’t have a toad on your motorhome or bikes to carry your gear it is a long 2 mile walk on the bike path to get there. Reason for four dtars, fishing access not good without boat, too far to marina and pay to dump.

For Merrill Campground: Very nice. Narrow steep road for 14 miles to get here but peaceful and worth the drive. Dry camping by the lake is $10 with senior pass.

Briport

For Merrill Campground: We love this place for after Labor Day camping. It's so big and quiet. Space all around us. Three loops for camping. Starting on the lake with no hookups, then middle loops have partial hookups. The loop closest to the road is full hookups. With 2 dogs, this place is great for them. Miles of beach and slowly deepening water.
