For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: This campground needs some love, and money. Sites are unleveled and rutted. In this environment simple shade structures over the picnic tables would be minimal yet much appreciated. I’m looking at electric transmission lines near our campsite - the CG should be electrified to eliminate noisy, polluting gasoline generators. Visitor center closes at 1600 hrs - too early for arriving visitors . It’s a classic example of an over used and under maintained NP CG. Fees should be increased to meet needs.

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Such a lovely little dry campground. Despite the extreme drought, the Joshua trees appear in good shape though delicate. Take care not to brush them with your vehicle. There are a few sites that will accept a bigger rig, and I lucked out reserving #67 sight unseen. It’s located on the entrance road before the nature center/office. That section of road is decent, while other roads in the campground are rough but passable. I was able to easily maneuver my 30’ fifth wheel, and was able to unhitch without being in the roadway. Site 68 next door isn’t big enough for more than a van or truck camper. Lots of tent campers here due to the size of the sites. Reservations are required, no walk-ins allowed. The campground is on a slope, so bring leveling blocks and patience. A scope or binoculars are nice for star gazing around the campfire. No access to the park from the campground, but the drive is not far. A beautiful place to enjoy the high desert. Quiet!

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Very deteriorated park with little signage to help out. Joshua tree ambience is nice but far away from most of the park. Few trails or things to do nearby.

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Stayed here for four days mid January 2020. Very nice "rustic" campground. Like most of the NPS campgrounds we have stayed at, there are no onsite hookups. There is a dump station ($5.00) fee), Fresh water is available at several areas in the park. Clean bathrooms. No showers. Many trails to explore. The landscape is quite enchanting, especially as the late afternoon sun highlights the Joshua trees, hills, and valleys. I take off one star due to the ridiculous NO DOGS ALLOWED trail policy. For the most part only in National Parks have we found this to be the rule. Verizon cell service is fair. ATT a little better.

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Roads are very narrow and are in very poor shape. Sites are not clearly defined. Extra fee for dump.

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Stayed for 3 nights. No hookups but water, toilets & dump station. US Park Svc Senior pass so only $10 a night. Sites were all good - we had a pull through. Park Svc Nature Center is in center of campground and several hiking paths. Unfortunately we were there in February - elevation is 4000 so cold & windy. Check weather out! We still thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay since we went to various sites with Joshua Tree Park.

For Black Rock - Joshua Tree National Park: Very nice NPS campground, helpful staff. Location is in the middle of a Joshua Tree forest, with several microclimates and plant ranges to search out and enjoy. Good hiking here, including a 1.5 mile guided nature walk with great views of the Yucca Valley. Inexpensive, and worth the stop. Excellent place for families. We camped here in a motorhome.
