For Jumbo Rocks - Joshua Tree National Park: The area at Jumbo Rocks is very beautiful, and there are jumbo size rocks and open trails everywhere. There is no water at this campground (I think not at any in Joshua Tree), so there are only pit toilets. The terrain makes it difficult for them to put in any campground, so at this one the site we had was a pullover, and not flat. Lots of class B's here (which is what we had), because they are small enough to maneuver and usually self-contained. We only stayed one night, I would stay here again if in the area. The campground was full (a Tuesday night in Feb. 2024) and required reservations. To the east is really uninhabited desert until you get to the Colorado river and Arizona. One star removed because the site was not flat.

For Jumbo Rocks - Joshua Tree National Park: One of my favorite NP campgrounds of all time. Many beautiful sites amongst the rocks. This is dry camping with no water, dump station, or flush toilets. Very quiet on the weekdays when we were there. Could get a little more noisy on weekends when the locals descend.
The park service recently started a free shuttle service loop on the north end of the park between most of the popular stops and trail heads. We could get on the shuttle at the entrance to the campground. Very convenient!
Also, these sites are now on reservation system and very popula, so plan ahead.
