For Hovenweep National Monument Campground: Great NPS campground. No hookups but a well maintained bathroom. Could not believe how dark/quiet it gets here at night. Worth the out-of-the-way drive to get here. Water available at the Visitor's Center (limit 5 gal). At least a half-dozen sites would accommodate an RV or trailer. Was 3/4 full the entire time we were here and that was in October, so try to arrive early in the day as there are no reservations.

For Hovenweep National Monument Campground: This is a wonderful, out of the way park to visit, and the campground is very nice. The facilities were very clean and it was nice that there was water available at the campground. There are also a good number of juniper trees in the campground, which provide a good amount of shade. Although the campground was full when we stayed there, it was very quiet and peaceful.

For Hovenweep National Monument Campground: If you like uncrowded, out of the way places to stay this is it. The campground is a short walk from the ruins around the canyon rim. There are only a half dozen RV only sites. Other sites may be used by RVs but there are small. The sites are close together compared to a typical BLM layout in the area. The natural pinyon-juniper vegetation is left in its native state throughout the campground.

The facilities are functional, clean and, in the usual NPS way, blend into the local environment. The staff are knowledgable and friendly. Water is available but restricted to a tap with a limit of 5 gallons.

I should also mention our visit was in October so the day temps were in the high 60s. When th sun was shining of us it was delightfully warm.

We loved this place and the archaeological sites close by so much we stayed an extra two days.
